We can’t afford to extend him and Ghost is our Barrie.

We both no that wouldn’t be offered and Philly accepts in a heartbeat.

I really doubt it. Myers is very good, but he's not some untouchable future Norris candidate. He's more of a young two way guy with limited offense but is a very good skater and very smooth operator. But you get a super fast top 6 forward with upside currently gunning at a 50 point pace on a 3rd line. The rest of this is sort of minutia but Myers for Kap is pretty fair.

Now it probably doesn't make sense. Myers isn't worth Kapanen and Liljegren and Elliot is only a good idea if you can afford him as the backup. I perhaps drop the rest and do Kapanen for Myers.

Still a no. Toronto should look elsewhere. No deal to be done with Philly for Myers.

You haven't been watching Barrie this year. His play might get him a PTO...but an extension. No way. He better have a good second half because he has cost himself $$$$$ million this year with his non productive offence and his terrible defence.

I actually wonder if this is good for Dubas, Barrie has been a lot better under Keefe, perhaps he will want to do a short term deal to rebuild his value and staying in TO could make sense, but we'll see.

It's Ceci and Marincin that have been better under Keefe. Barrie had an initial good spurt but he has reverted being terrible in his own zone. Holl and Liljegren next year on the right side, but I can't see the Leafs wanting Barrie or Ceci back. Some one team that needs an offensive Dman will probably want Barrie a lot more than the Leafs do.

Obviously I don't want to lose Myers even though his play hasn't been great recently but my biggest problem is losing Elliott and getting Hutchinson in return. Elliott has been solid for a good part of this season and its nice having a back up you can trust to win games which hasn't been the case with Hutchinson this year.

I was thinking about a Myers trade over the Christmas break when the house was quiet and was surprised to see that he has been a healthy scratch different times this year. Since he is from my home city I thought it would be neat to see him as a Leaf but started to wonder what has been going on with him. I thought that '99 Liljgren for '97 Myers straight up might work for both teams.

Has Myers been stumbling a bit?

There are games where he looks really good and games where he struggles like every young dman. You see how good he can be but he just needs to adjust his game to the nhl since up until now hes most likely been on of the best players on the ice while he's out there.
