He has said that he wants to catch Gretzky's goal record, so until/unless that happens I don't think he's going anywhere.

Ovechkin has a real shot at surpassing Howe in career goals and could even pass Gretzky. No... ovi is never leaving the nhl.

Depends on what's more important to him. Does he want to win gold by playing against washouts and European league players, or does he want to spend the last few years chasing the all time scoring lead?

I think it would be ridiculous for him to throw away a legitimate shot at Gretzky's record for Olympic gold against weak competition

Is there a chance? Sure, I guess there's a chance. Do I think he'll leave the NHL/Caps for the KHL next season? Nah. I think he wants to stay, and has even said that he'd welcome a contract with term tied to Backstrom's next deal prior to Nick signing his extension. I still think that he wants to chase the goal scoring record, and he can't do that in the KHL.
