Toronto Edmonton perfect trade partners

Created by: kailer_memeamoto
Team: 2019-20 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 16, 2020
Published: Jan. 16, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Oilers have a plethora of D prospects and players, and need wingers. Leafs desperately need D right now, have a lot of wingers. basic economics
Trades
EDM
  1. Kapanen, Kasperi
  2. 2020 3rd round pick (CBJ)
  3. 2020 7th round pick (STL)
  4. 2021 6th round pick (TOR)
  5. 2021 7th round pick (TOR)
TOR
  1. Khaira, Jujhar
  2. Larsson, Adam
Additional Details:
Thought about other D men like Benning or Lagesson, but Larsson is the perfect fit in Toronto and dubas likely would pay extra for him. While khaira is just a throw in, he’s the perfect player for the leafs bottom 6, as he’s just as bad defensively as the rest of them but can actually shoot and hit.

Toronto passes quickly. Taking your trash for valuable pieces... Dubas laughs. Why would he pay extra for the exact type of Dman he dislikes?

Trash? Valuable pieces? Larsson would be their best RD outside the O-zone. Kapanen is hot garbage defensively anywhere but the PK

Take out Khaira, all the picks and then Edmonton adds at least 1 2nd rounder. Larsson isn't very good and Kapanen is on pace for almost 50 points playing on the 3rd line. Oiler fans should know by now, for them to get good wingers, it's not going to come cheap, especially since they can't seem to do it themselves through the draft.

When you actually have a player development department, yeah they are.

Lmao.. kappy is garbage defensively. You should watch a game before trading for a player. Kappy is good in all 3 zones.

You seem upset. If kappy is trash don’t trade for him. I love having him on the team

Larsson just might be our 6/7 Dman. Sorry you gave up hall for him but that does not make him good.

If you want to make a trade fine, but it's really a silly narrative. Leafs are desperate for Dmen?....don't know why you say that. But if of course if Kapanen is as bad you say, guess the Oilers really shouldn't take Kapanen.

If he is available. Teams don’t usually let players go they aren’t willing to.

People like to make a lot of buzz about protection. Leafs will protect the players they need. If it comes down to it and a roster player that they are not willing to move is targeted they will make a deal to send futures. Possibly with a different roster player.

The leafs will be in a pretty good position again for the expansion draft. I have no worries

Well since you have no D for next year besides Rielly that anyone would want, who are the 7 forwards are you protecting?

The Leafs can't use Khaira in any way, even with Kappy traded, Mikky and Moore injured... so that's a bad sign for this trade. Funny to trade a depth winger TO the Leafs isn't it? And his possession numbers stink, so that's just garbage.
But, it should be noted that Larsson is a responsible, veteran RD, with respectable possession stats. So Larsson for Kappy definitely makes sense to build from. Not sure it can work for TML, but reasonable as a framework.

He doesn't know what player development is....it's foreign to Edmonton lol.

Also it's funny when people comment about a team when it's very clear they haven't been watching said team and the player being mentioned.

Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Nylander, Kerfoot, Kapanen, Johnsson

I am pretty sure Hyman will be a pending FA so he is exempt. It's pretty straight forward

Larsson does not and never has had respectable possession stats. The reality is, Larsson from day one of his career has been an average or below average defender. His possession numbers are almost always below 50% and he offers no offense at all (it's not his game I know). There is not statistical proof that he's much better than Ceci. He has a rep because he was traded for Hall but the reality is, he's an upgrade over Ceci and that's it.

Maybe outside Edmonton, but I don't think Oilers fans regard him this way. I appreciate Larsson for what he is, the fact that Hall went the other way 3 years ago has nothing to do with my valuation of the player.

What he is, is nothing special. Larsson is a 2nd pair defenceman on average teams and bottom pair on good teams.
