You absolutely should. Trade other goalies. Georgiev is really good.

Well that'd be hard to do with Lundqvist.

Tell him to retire, offer him money, a role in the organization, something... he could even be there at practices to help both goalies alongside Benoit Allaire, our goalie coach

lundqvist only has one more season on his deal. It would be difficult for exactly one season, of the 10 that are in a decade

Honestly unless you can get a stellar return for Georgiev the Rangers should just by-out Lundqvist. I know he is a pillar of the organization but they should just bite the bullet and do it. He will be 38 starting next year, its not like they are cutting him off early. 38 is a more than reasonable retirement age for any player let alone a goalie. Take the 5.5 hit next year and resign Georgiev to a 3 million dollar deal for a few years. The cap hits equal out. You get to have a young tandem of goalies who are both competent and have the possibility of above average goal tending. Shesterkin is exempt from the expansion draft, it just makes too much sense. If one of them takes off in the next couple years, you commit to him and trade the other for an equal or greater return to what you would get for Georgiev right now.

That being said i hope you guys decide to keep Hank for one last lap around the league and the Leafs can try and snake Georgiev out from under you.
