I have been a fan of Connor Brown since his days with the Leafs. I think he could be a good fit for the Penguins. He’s got great speed, he forechecks, he plays a responsible two-way game and he has the hockey sense to get into scoring positions. Not the most talented player avaliable but I feel he’d work well with Crosby. What would it cost to get him? Would a second round pick get things started?

Why should the Sens who have a whack of picks trade Brown just to get more futures. At some time, you keep your good players.

I'd say a 2nd or a 3rd and b-level prospect is pretty reasonable too

Idk. But to me, the Sens cant afford to have C. Brown, White, Pageau, Tierney, Duclair, Demelo all making 4-5 mill per year

Should Brown make that much? You might not have any choice for the two UFAs that you listed, but does Sens ownership want to piss off their fans by trading average to good players for picks. When does that madness stop.

If it was up to me id trade, Tierney and Pageau. Re-sign Brown to a 2-3 year deal and Demelo to a 2-3 year deal. Sign Duclair long term. Then in 1-2 years, trade Demelo and Brown.
We have so many 2-4th line prospects that we dont have the space to sign so many of those long term and then their contracts become untradeable. This is why im happy with the 2 1sts, we really need 2 elite players this draft, a future 1st line centre and winger.

I don't think he's available. Sens need to keep some of their vets, and Brown is only 25 and on pace for 50 points. He's a great two way player and he provides much needed veteran leadership while still being young enough to fit into the future of this team.

Melo probably won't get 4mil, and you don't keep Pageau or Tierney.

Yeah my ideal future contending team looks something like:
2020 1st-2020 1st-Batherson
Tkachuk-Norris-Duclair
Formenton-Brown-White
Chlapik-Pinto-Balcers

Chabot-JBD
Branny-Thomson
Wolanin-Jaros/Zaitsev

Honestly the sens have so many young forwards that there are a bunch of options. I think if Logan Brown is going to make it, he's going to make it as a top 2 C, not a 3C.

I'm also not sure if Duclair will be a long term player for Ottawa. I think he'll sign a bridge deal, but I'm not totally sure if he stays beyond that. Sens have a bunch of LW options. I'd prioritize keeping Connor Brown long term.

For example:

Tkachuk-2020 1st-Batherson
2020 1st-L.Brown-White
Formenton-Norris-C.Brown
Balcers-Chlapik-Pinto
Paul

Chabot-JBD
Brannstrom-Thomson
Wolanin-Jaros/Zaitsev
Alsing/Lajoie

I think there are two answers to this question. I think Connor Brown has a value of a B+ prospect and a late 2nd but I think that to get him in a trade from Ottawa it would take an overpayment on his value. Despite the young guys coming up they still need to fill a roster with good players and I think Brown is part of that. So I think to get Brown it would cost a 1st in the 2020 draft or a prospect ready to be in the league (think Studnika from BOS).

Brown is a restricted free agent so I think he can entertain offers. He should certainly fetch a decent return.

Yea, he's an RFA, how many RFAs actually get offer sheets?

I think if the Sens can draft Byfield and one of Raymond/Holtz, then they’ll look really good. That top 4 defence looks excellent. If the Sens win the draft lottery by chance but don’t get the 2nd overall, do you think they’ll still pick Byfield or end up taking Lafreniere instead? What would you prefer?

Do you guys Connor Brown could be an option for Pittsburgh? Possibly play with Sid?

Yeah I think that’s a lot to ask for and I heard the Penguins aren’t willing to trade their first or top prospects. Connor Brown is the type of player that can help Pittsburgh win a cup because he fits in so well so sometimes you have to pay the price in order to land him.

He certainly would be an upgrade over this version of Galchenyuk and does a lot of stuff that Sullivan would like. Price shouldn't be crazy high either.

I'd honestly rather have him over Bjugstad too. Not a big fan.

For all the options out there that would demand out top picks or prospects I actually do think he'd be a good addition. Plus he can move up and down the lineup as needed. I don't think Pittsburgh will get Toffoli he'll go to Calgary. I actually think conn or brown would be a good addition and he's young enough to be signed to an extension at the right aav

Yeah I agree. I think they can run a McCann-Crosby-Brown top line and slide Simon back with Bjugstad & Hornqvist.

I agree he’s versatile & he could likely get resigned for 4 years at around 3.5 million.

He's having a career year this year, but that is not usual. He is fine if you have him, but I wouldn't want to pay a lot to acquire him.

Yeah the good thing about him is he shouldn’t have to cost those ludicrous packages that have been suggested for players like zucker & Saad.
