Description

I do expect alot of backlash for this.

As for the trade, think of it this way: Backes was waived, so for his M-NTC, it won't take much for him to add MTL to his trade list, that is if he wants to be back in the NHL.
The Habs can take on 2 years of Backes, as their major signings will come when his contract is off the books.
For Gallagher, yes he's the heart and soul of the Habs, but he'll never win in MTL with Price and Weber's contracts holding back their cap for the decade. They won't be able to have top players on their payroll, unless they're on ELC's, which I don't see because scouting isn't very good in the Habs system. Basically, 1st round will be easier for them to draft, but they can't draft well in later rounds.

Yeah, I am not sure this is enough. I don't think MTL can afford this when Byron and Drouin are healthy either.

He's a 30 goal scorer making under 4m a year. On a team where he is the only guy you need to cover.

Would love him on the Bruins, but I think it would take more.

We aren't trading Gallagher for a late 1st, a bust, and a terrible contract. The value isn't even close to fair.

I was never a high end draft pick, I don't think I qualify as a bust.

He's 23 this year and isn't doing to well in the AHL. It's time to accept him as a bust.

? what do you mean not doing well in the AHL. Hes a defensive defenseman. on a team with a HORRIBLE farm system lol. Hes looked pretty solid in games he has played in the nhl. also turns 23 in april...

look im not saying this trade is good for montreal cuz its not. but if you dont know the prospect dont call him a bust... 11 points in 40 games for a defensive defenseman isnt bad, thats two way territory. He isnt going to put up points, but hes going to fight and stick up for guys, hes pretty smart with the puck, isnt afraid to get physical and go to the dirty areas. He will be a bottom 4 nhl player. If Carlo didnt come out super strong right out of the gate, lauzon could be in that spot. I have a feeling hes getting moved with a 2nd for toffoli though.

Late 1st and Lauzon might get you Gally without Backes....maybe. Not with him tho.
