Who do you have in the pipeline to replace him? It's not as if there are spare starting goalies hanging around in other systems to be traded for. Only teams I can think of off the top of my head are Los Angeles (Campbell and Petersen), who would rather relocate to Boise than trade with you, and Dallas (Point and Oettinger).

Doesn't show but how long has Nabakov been the goalie coach? Just wondering if another set of eyes on Jones might be productive.

Nabby has been goalie coach since DeBoer was canned. Nabby has clearly helped Dell, Jones has been working with Nabby for two weeks and no appearances in those two weeks and started last night allowing two bad goals in the first period and four altogether.

We would have to resort to FA or trade. Korenar is next in line but has had a down year in the AHL after a fantastic rookie season.

Abysmal is an accurate description of Jones the last two seasons.

Buying him out this offseason will save the Sharks between 3-4 million in cap space for the next four years, than cost them 1.6 million for another four. The cap is also already tight, so that 1.6 million may be a detriment in the future if the Sharks end up rebuilding.

So if they buy him out this summer, they're paying Jones for one year past Karlsson and Couture, two years past Burns, and three past Kane.

Sounds like they're not doing that, if they're thinking long term. More likely a trade, or they just keep him and try to help him get back on his game.
