NYR has a ton of Left Defense in the system, not quite NHL ready. Don't see an interest in Dermot. lot of gaps up front especially on the wing, as afar as NHL ready or almost NHL ready talent.

We got the bottom pairs covered. Hajek & Rykov will get looks this year as well. Skjei, Staal & Lindgren will have to hold down the Left side for the foreseeable future. (TDA did play LD at Sarnia)
NYR are rebuilding & the area they have the MOST depth is LHD so they aren't going to waste a chance to get an asset in an area they are lacking.
Kreider has no Canadian teams on his M-NTC so i dont think it matters,..... but then again playing with M&M on the top line could surely pump up that UFA value...
CK is getting NYR a 1st round pick, even if its potentially of the conditional nature, so i don't think Tor is the fit.

But rental are always over valued at this time of year. A player like Kreider with half his cap retained is going to cost a pretty penny because buyers are stupid.

No. Kreider will leave in UFA (leafs won't want to pay as much as I think he can get) , meaning the Leafs give up Kapanen and Dermott for Georgiyev and a rental. Not enough value. I'd rather keep them and roll with Hutch if that was the case.
