I wonder if the GM's will just ignore NYR until they agree that third third stringer isn't worth what they think he is. Mostly because they are stuck with two good young goalies and the King. He is a RFA next year and he won't re-sign with NYR

Geogiev ( & Tony DeAngelo & Ryan Strome & Brendan Lemieux) is an arbitration eligible RFA so the NYR will not need to worry about an offer sheet (at least not this summer) if he elects it or the Rangers elect it.

i agree i am seeing an overvaluing on Georgiev's return by other NYR fans.

To be clear IF Georgiev elects arbitration he CANNOT be offer sheeted... If he doesn't elect & the CLUB does, he CAN still get an offer sheet.

Club Elected:
A player who has been elected for salary arbitration in the first window is eligible to receive an Offer Sheet
A player who has been elected for salary arbitration in the second window is eligible to receive an Offer Sheet; however, the player has until July 5th at 5:00pm EST to sign the Offer Sheet
Player Elected:
A player who has elected for salary arbitration is not eligible to receive an Offer Sheet

Ha ah wrong Strome! Nice catch!
Gorton is fishing (no pun intended) for the best offer, rightly so. the 3 golaie circus in NY needs to end sooner than later so other GM"s may be able to wait out Gorton &have him drop the ask.

Thats my thought. Gorton is the one that has a problem...no one else.

the rangers hold his rights for another 3 years.. so good luck with the "he won't sign with the rangers" statement. I like how you say he's a third stringer when he would start on a few different teams in the NHL currently, and he's not yet 24 years old. You are incredibly naive.

The fact is, he's faced 30+ shots in 16 of his 22 games and has a record of 11-4-1 in those games. Of the games he didn't face over 30 shots, 5/6 of them were against playoff teams (and one of them was in relief so 4/5 games started) and his record is 1-4 (he beat the one non playoff team)

He's on a bad team so his GAA and Sav% reflect that. Take a look at John Gibson. He's one of the better goalies in the league yet his numbers this year (and last) are trash because the team in front of him isn't good (btw georgiev actually has a better save percentage).

Rangers having three goalies isn't a problem now or in the future-- Shesterkin is exempt in the expansion and lundqvist is UFA by then (making georgiev the only goalie they actually have to protect). Just because he's on the block doesn't mean the rangers have to get rid of him, it just means he's available for the right price (as in fill give a decent player to fill a rangers need and they'll give georgiev since they have the best goalie pipeline in the NHL)

If he isnt the third stringer then why are they trading him? Its cuz NYR view him as the only one to trade away. They cannot hold onto him as a third goalie.

Yes, he can't sign with another team but he sure force NYR to trade his rights.

I don't disregard the fact that he is good but NYR will soon realize that no team is going to overpay, like they want, because its them that are in the difficult position.

I agree with most of this, the only thing I don't is the "third stringer". Lundqvist is up after next season (if he even plays next year), and Shesterkin is exempt from the expansion draft. Yes if Lundqvist plays next year it would be an unfortunate situation. I would argue that Hank is already the rangers "third stringer"-- he's played 2 games in the new year versus the 3 for Georgiev and the 3 for Shesterkin. Yes they are probably trying to see what they have for the future-- but if I were Gorton, I would hold onto both Georgiev and Shesterkin long term-- unless someone agrees to pay a haul for Georgiev (this may be at the draft, we will see what happens). I really wouldn't mind Georgiev and Shesterkin getting coaching and advice from both Allaire and Lundqvist-- probably two of the greatest goalie minds in the world-- even if it's for one more season. The cap will be the hardest thing to manage.
