Don't think Kings will trade Walker. He's worth more to the rebuild than he would fetch in a trade return. Without him, the Kings would have 5 bottom pairing defensemen in the lineup every game and no one to man the 2nd PP unit.

That’s a fair point, was just curios as a Caps fan what King’s fans thought of him/ what his value is?

He's a pretty solid two-way defenseman with a high hockey IQ. His best asset is his skating. He's very quick on his feet, which in combination with his smarts makes it seem like he's always in the right position. His shot is average and his overall defense is average, but he's great a dishing the puck. He's not going to quarterback a 1st powerplay unit or anchor a PK unit, but would be a good option for the second unit on both. He's the guy that you want with the puck on his stick when breaking out of the defensive zone. He'd be a solid 2nd pairing guy on most teams in the league, or a quality bottom pairing guy on a contender.

As for his value, it's hard to say. He's a right-handed 2nd pairing defenseman that is on a league-minimum contract and is rights protected for at least 2 more seasons. With the position the Kings are currently in, I wouldn't consider trading him unless a 1st round pick was coming back to LA. Kind of like Kyle Clifford, he's worth more to the Kings than teams should be willing to pay, which is why I suspect that he's not going anywhere.

Walker sounds a lot like Nick Jensen when he was on the trade market. Solid skater, good passer, but doesn't create a ton of offense, and isn't super solid defensively.

I haven't seen enough of Nick Jensen to validate this, but from your description it sounds about right.
