If I were the GM I'd want nothing to do with Byfuglien with what he has done to the team by not showing up

Our blue line has just been decimated by injury. It’s sad to watch things unfold. We have some good talent but the Byfuglien situation just screwed us over this year. Like at this point I don’t even want him back, if we knew he wasn’t going to be playing again we would’ve kept some guys around and had a way better blue line. I also think we need a coaching change. Maurice just isn’t the guy that’s gonna get us over the hump. We need a fresh face that doesn’t play favourites.

To be honest while I’m definitely not the biggest Maurice fan, it’s tough to blame him for how things have went this year.
Keeping a Ben Chiarot and if buff could play could have DRAMITCALLY impacted our season. Unless if a miracle happens and we turn things around, I would like to see us hire gallant and have Samberg and heinola both on the team next year. going after FA dman or pick on up in a trade. I knew from the start of the season that we weren’t going to be great this season.

Oh trust me I knew we would g be great either. I know it’s hard to blame Maurice. Especially considering he’s done a pretty good job with what he has. We just need a new face. It would’ve been so much different if buff would’ve just said from the beginning he wasn’t going to be playing this year or next. I agree that we should inquire on gallant and then have Samberg and heinola playing next year. We might as well just retool this year and go for it next.

Random question off topic, expansion protection list is 731 or what’s alternative. Laine, scheifele, connor, roslovic, little, wheeler, and copp, morrissey, pionk, niku/Stanley/poolman, helly. My main question is ask little to waive and possibly deal niku and Stanley for somebody better worth protecting. Or what are the thoughts? I know it’s still 18 months away, but after watching tonight I prefer looking ahead than back

I’m definitely open to moving Stanley and niku to upgrade. Also, as for little I just don’t see him playing much longer. I have an eerie feeling that he’s going back get another concussion and retire but if he doesn’t they should consider that. Also, if jets did fire Maurice. He’d probably get the Seattle job. I think Wheeler will only ever play for Maurice again. Wouldn’t be surprised if he asks to be unprotected to go to Seattle with him.

Fair enough, I hope Chevy learns a little more cut throat and slows down some of these reward/loyalty contracts, especially at the worth of the signature instead of through out the contract. Personally I would have dealt wheeler with one year left, a little harsh, but losing so many assets to free agency injury or retirement is awefully hard on the squad with only gaining cap space, damn it’s going to be tough if rebuild has to come without success

To be fair, he was smart about not giving wheeler more than 5 years. I don’t mind the contract. I do agree that he needs to be a bit more cut throat. Would be nice to see a quick retool this year and then a deep run next year.

Ya I figure the window is scheifele contract and or equals to laine under team control ish, so need a quality hockey trade of some sort to add top 4 rhd and top 9 tough forward with some touch around the net. Might need a robbery, quite a drop off from worth protecting for expansion to the elc kids, not a whole lot in between.
