Habs only chance to get first overall is to win the lottery. Jersey rejects this trade

They probably do but I’m hoping the idea of getting Canfield and Hughes back together and home town hero cayden primeau. Would be enough to sway them maybe add 2021 first round pick as well or if we pick up another one for 2020. But I believe jersey would sit and contemplate this for title but before saying no

that 2020 first would have to be a top 10 pick for them to consider this offer.

NJ doesn't touch this. The top 5 picks in the draft are better then caufield.

I think this year once you get into that 4-10 range they are pretty interchangeable depending on your team needs. Lots of skilled wingers in this draft past 5, only 1 dman in the top 10, so hypothetically speaking this would give NJ two elite wingers instead of 1 and a top goalie prospect. Really just depends on what NJ thinks about rekindling Caufield and Hughes and if they think Primeau can become their #1

Not a chance NJ does that if they get a top 2 pick especially. Byfield and AL are that good.

Draft is MTL and they did not make the playoff 3 out of 4, possibly 4 out of 5 years. If I was NJ, for the hometown boy, MTL would need an over-payment premium. I would ask more (Romanov + 1st round 2021 (and possibly 2022 ))

I really believe NJ is highly interested in caufield and primeau. I believe the were both part of the ask for Taylor hall before he was traded and Montreal and New Jersey were talking so I believe with the pick or two jersey would definitely take 4 A prospects over 1 elite. Especially since the difference is very little and considering Hughes and caufield could be the best goal scoring combo since Gretzky /Kurrie Oates/hull
And backstrom/ovi . They did shatter all US HISTORY goal totals by substantial amount. Just saying.

I actually think Byfield will be the better player but I still dont see either as superstars like Mathews or Mcdavid, high end I think lafreinre turns out like Hall and even he isn't exactly an overwhelmingly dominate player.

I think Lafreinre is going to be a Pastrnak
