That's way to much for a BACKUP who the rangers HAVE to trade. If they switched kappy for a 3rd the leafs would think about it

The solution to this isn't to overpay for a fringe starter

Look at reality. Reports say Leafs want to do Bracco and a pick. Rangers want someone like Kap. Huge gap. Makes unlikely trade partners. Leafs are acquiring him as a backup and want to pay as such. Rangers selling him as a starter. Going to have to meet in the middle or move on. There are other teams.

All these traded favor Rangers heavily BTW.

Something like Deangelo and Georgiev to Vegas for Tuch and another piece, probably a pick makes sense. You are not getting Krebs though.

Hardly, and certainly not while giving up Tuch.

What happens next season when he goes into arbitration, gets paid and the rangers who will have lundquist and the better goalie prospect who will be on the team. He will have to go on waivers or be traded

Georgiev doesn't solve anything in TO, no point in overpaying by sending Kap, does solve a thing for TO so they won't be sending Kap, the offer of Bracco and pick won't change if the Rangers had any offer even close to a Kapenen type player for Georgiev they'd of moved him, Rangers do not have to move Georgiev and Leafs do not have to trade for him

Buch is close enough to Tuch asides from contracts... and deangelo easily gets krebs and something else

Tuch>Buch
Elevnes>Anderson
2nd>Fast

Leaving Krebs for Tony. Vegas would have to add a pick on that, but Vegas can’t afford to trade away quality center prospect, they are shallow there.

Like I said. Tony and Georgie for Tuch and high pick is fair for both.

How are they shallow there.... they have stastny, karlsson, glass, Roy, (Stephenson), Dugan. Tony>Tuch and it’s not close

Statsny is 34 and declining fast. Eakin is UFA, Glass was playing mostly wing this year, he will go back to C when Stats and Eakin are gone. Where they are shallow is center prospects. Krebs is really their only decent one. Dugan played mostly wing his freshman year and Elvenes is a winger.

Tony is small and average at best defensively who was mostly garbage til this year. Having a great year offensively and would certainly help Vegas PP where a 1/3 of his points come from.

I know, 85% of fans are only willing to make trades if their team wins it. Reality however is different.

Was malkin the 3rd best center on the penguins? Georgiev certainly isnt better then lundquist or shesterkin

Goes to show that you do not actual pay attention that well. Georgiev is better than Hank right now. Leafs fans are clearly in denial about what this deal would cost them. Kap and a 3rd.

The high pick would have a to be a first. Puck moving RHD who are almost a PPG are not cheap.

Yup, Vegas might even gave to add a mid level prospect as well. But the basis is there.

Toronto should be trading for a real backup goalie like DeSmith or Dell, giving up only a mid round pick.
The Rangers should be trading Georgiev to a team looking for a young goalie who could be their starter. And more likely that will be at the draft.

Agreed, good point. Only disagreement i have is your assessment of 2nd > Fast. Might be a agree to disagree situation, but someone like Brian Boyle netted a 2nd during the TDL. As a NYR fan who has watched both of these players Fast is worth the 2nd given that Boyle netted one.
