Agreed, good point. Only disagreement i have is your assessment of 2nd > Fast. Might be a agree to disagree situation, but someone like Brian Boyle netted a 2nd during the TDL. As a NYR fan who has watched both of these players Fast is worth the 2nd given that Boyle netted one.

Somebody probably will at deadline. Boyle is a big bodied bruiser with a lot of grit that comes in handy in playoffs and can play cente/ wins faceoffs. At deadline i’m looking at him more than I am Fast even if Fast provides a bit more offense. But a 2nd for him is certainly not out of the question. I’d go a 3rd. But i’m conservative when it comes to 3rd line types.

You and i could probably battle back and forth between a 2nd and a 3rd until the TDL, I do agree that Boyle does add that excellent faceoff potential but i could argue that Fast adds more speed and offensive potential.

I have always said this because Elliot Friedman said this "he does not get you in but he will get you far" those are the types of players that Boyle/Fast are.

The solution to this isn't to overpay for a fringe starter

You dont have a solution. The leafs are too top heavy, if you do not realize that you are delusional. Not saying Georgiev is the answer but Freddie is not a good starter.

This "fringe starter" has given up 6 goals in last 3 games( all 3 games against teams in the playoffs) and you have given up 12( 2 out of those 3 teams are not in the playoffs).

Have fun against boston and tampa. You are too top heavy.

He's good but not worth a potential top 6 winger

The potential top 6 winger isnt worth the first string goalie either.

I cannot believe that you leaf fans cannot comprehend that you are too top heavy.

Was malkin the 3rd best center on the penguins? Georgiev certainly isnt better then lundquist or shesterkin

georgiev is better than andersen was at 23. he also projects to be as good or better than him. it doesn't matter which goalie is in toronto because your forwards can't defend.

That's way to much for a BACKUP who the rangers HAVE to trade. If they switched kappy for a 3rd the leafs would think about it

Look at reality. Reports say Leafs want to do Bracco and a pick. Rangers want someone like Kap. Huge gap. Makes unlikely trade partners. Leafs are acquiring him as a backup and want to pay as such. Rangers selling him as a starter. Going to have to meet in the middle or move on. There are other teams.

All these traded favor Rangers heavily BTW.

Something like Deangelo and Georgiev to Vegas for Tuch and another piece, probably a pick makes sense. You are not getting Krebs though.

He isnt a starter so...

What happens next season when he goes into arbitration, gets paid and the rangers who will have lundquist and the better goalie prospect who will be on the team. He will have to go on waivers or be traded

Just about every Rangers fan would love for the Rangers to keep Georgiev and Shesteken and instead have Lundqvist waive his no trade clause and request a trade. NYR does not want to trade Georgiev, not even for Kapanen and a 2nd round pick. But being the class organisation they are, do not want to ask Lundqvist to waive his NMC, would much rather have him request a trade. Look for the Rangers to keep playing the two best goalies (Shesterken and Georgiev) and look for Lundqvist to start seeing the writing on the wall for the rest of this season and next season and for him to request a trade close to the trade deadline so he could go to a team that needs him and is in cup contention.

I wouldn't be surprised that if Toronto actually agrees to Kapanen and a 2nd round pick, Gorton tells Toronto's GM - Ya know for us to trade Georgiev we really need to make the trade instead Kapanen and a 1st round pick (2021). Rangers fans don't want Georgiev traded and I would think Gorton doesn't want to be remembered for years to come as the guy who traded one of the better goalies in the league (which Georgiev will most likely develop into) for much less value than he's worth. NYR has the youngest team in the NHL, especially on defence. It took about half the season, but the Rangers Defensemen are just now starting to play well. But the first half of the season the Rangers D was absolutely horrific! Talk is cheep, one would really have to see for themselves how good Georgiev was with such a horrific defence in front of him prior to now (last season included) to truly understand how good he really is.

Georgiev is not eligible for arbitration this offseason.
