2021 NJDevs - Trades wTOR SJS CHI BUF OTT

Created by: TheTrap94

Initial Creation Date: Jan. 18, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
New GM
New HC

Defense first - Low jersey numbers (I liked that)
Players devoted to the TEAM

A lot of trades (crazy ones ?!) but one can "dream"

NHL
NHL lines could be mixed up depending on players performances
I really believe NSH will have a hard time to sign Craig Smith (if they can't trade Turris of course) so I think he will be available on the UFA market (maybe offering him 1 more year or more cash to attract him to NJ or both)
The D core is not the ultimate best but we will do with what is available (and seeems realistic)

AHL
I tried to be creative with the AHL team --> Why not (it can't be much worse than that we already have) -> Some players are nto even under NHL (minors) contracts so I created them [they will be ... years old (...yo) when the 20/21 season will start]
5th line FWD - players sent down to the ECHL team (could be called up or become regular AHLers in the future)
4th pair D - same
3rd G -> same

Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Severson, Damon
Additional Details:
This trade could even occur before the 2020 deadline
2.
NJD
  1. Leonard, John [Reserve List]

  2. Talvitie, Aarne [Reserve List]
  3. Zacha, Pavel
  4. 2020 1st round pick (ARI)
Additional Details:
Bratt is a very good player. Zacha has a big body and could be a reliable 3rd C
3.
NJD
  1. Carpenter, Ryan
  2. Saad, Brandon
  3. 2021 5th round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
Adding Saad and Carpenter would provide more responsible forwards in NJ -> they are neede in this defensive team
CHI
  1. Cormier, Evan
  2. Gusev, Nikita

Gusev would be a good fit in CHI. Maybe Crawford is gone in the offseason -> Delia would back up Lehner (assuming his contract is extended) and Cormier could form a tandem in Rockford

  1. Santini, Steven
  2. 2020 6th round pick (NSH)
Additional Details:
Santini is a former Devil. I like his physical play

First of all welcome to the forum! I had a question would NJ be interested in trading Miles Wood by any chance and if so for what?

This deal is awful for the sharks. We give up the best player, best prospect and get a marginal upgrade on our pick, an okay 3c and a bottom six player.

Sabres easily say no
It would make more sense for us to just trade Miller for a pick if we wanted to dump him

He did state it would probably be Philly's 3rd coming back to NJ thats not a marginal upgrade, SJ doesn't really have a player they could move to gain a first rnd pick Couture would but that's be devastating to SJ - Their strapped to the cap with high AAV long-term contracts on aging assets - Mier is a 60 pt winger who you'll be forced to pay 10 million per to extend, each year that get closer he loses value he is not even close to a 10 million per player

Oh I’m willing to trade Meier but not for scraps. I want a first and an A prospect back, not a super late first and some okay players
