Should've traded Gus last year when his value was up.
There was no way he would get anywhere near what he did last year.

Caggs is worth more then a 5th and a cap dump; he should get a 3rd or 4th worst case.

Calgary might be an overpayment..

I think if the Hawks win against the Jets tomorrow and moreso against Florida on Tuesday before the break, they should stay put. If they lose against the Jets then should sell...sounds crazy but it's that close. I don't think they should buy regardless, but could still take on a cap dump or two for picks/prospects.

Stay put, make a trade if it makes sense, but do not buy.

good take. do you think his low cap will cause a bidding war and raise his stock, or is there not enough demand for him anymore considering what the hawks might ask?

Last year was a 1st plus; this year is a 2nd.

Off topic, ChiHawk (not trolling at all) but how is Boqvist doing? Really wanted NYR to take him at 9.

He's play pretty good given his age and only playing 23 games. He's going to be something but needs to build some strength and continue working on his defense.

I have always said this, Defense is a position that comes with age. He will be a great player for CHI, NYR drafted Nils Lundkvist 20 picks later and hes playing great in the SHL. It comes with time.

I think they should do a combination of the two. Sell off extraneous free agents (Crawford and Gustafsson to be specific), and maybe make a trade if one makes sense. By no means should they give up any prospects, but if a good trade presents itself they should go for it.

Ok, I am one who often defends Saad and think he's criminally underrated but there is no chance in hell he pulls 2 1st ++
That package isn't that far off of the Hall trade and thats only for 1.5 years of Saad. The second 1st in the Hall trade relied on an extension

Boqvist has some nice offensive skills. He looked terrible in the back end (out of position) when he first arrived. He is paired up with Keith, so Boqvist has one of the best mentors. I notice he his defensive play is improving. He needs to get stronger and that will happen with time. He is being outmuscled at times with the puck. Nothing but upside though.
