I like this EDM deal... MB and TT probably watched Samo play a lot last year in the OHL playoffs while looking at Suzuki with Guelph. I dont know if VEG would make this deal though... Hague looked great so far and is a dmen... Which is what VEG need. Maybe a deal centered around Krebs could make it. A la Pacioretty trade maybe

Oilers decline. That’s like oilers giving up 2 first round picks. And a 3rd. We know what we have in Samorukov. He is going to be a good one. Holland also said oilers are not moving their 1st round pick.

Each one of these is pushing it a little in terms of what I feel what would actually happen. Not by a ton but definitely a noticeable tad.

the penguins could have signed kovalchuk for zero assets, but passed. Why would they give up a third round pick now?

Cuz he has 8 pts in 8 games since he has been traded. He is proving he still has something in the tank right now. HIs value his increasing, and he might turns out to be a very good playoff rental.

Oh and, Just a reminder, the penguins traded a 1st round pick for Ryan Reaves few years ago.

the point still stands, if the team was not interested in signing him for nothing, why would they later give up a 3rd round pick plus a player for him. I think they should have signed him but for some reason they didn't want to, eight games isn't going to change that. And yes it was a signing, not a trade that brought him to Montreal in the first place.
