ugh thats not Sakic realistic, not even in the ball park. a bunch of depth adds that wont even find a spot on the active roster and a no logic Kam for Fast does nothing for them

I feel like bellemare and calvert have been 2 of the avs better players this year in the bottom 6 roles.

I agree the smaller deals are usually the better ones for playoff runs, I'd rather use jost in a trade, but like how the teams been built this year

what spot needs the most work in your (also @coga16)'s opinion? Do you think they should go all in and buy a rental like Krieder this year, or let the team develop for a year more then go "guns blazing"? To me it seems like, despite being a great team, they need another year to be a true cup contender. I like what Fast could bring to this team. I struggled to know who to replace though.

2nd line Winger, other than that these moves just are burning assets for the sake of doing it.
Fast is just more than same of Jost, Nieto, and Nuke so why trade away a young Forward that Bednar really likes in Kamenev for more the same. Lewis adds little to no value to the bottom 6. They could add a Dman with PK experience, that is always a need in the playoffs and I dont know if Barberio is deep enough for next man up.

Look at Nashville for years, at the deadline they nibbled around the edges like this for years and years, and it got them no where just burning assets.

I see what you are saying. But would you rather keep buying a 2nd line winger each TDL and spend a prospect / top 2 pick until you are out of prospects? It appears you are wanting to go on a cup push this year (makes sense, the team is good) when really it's the next two years (up until the makar/byram/gabe contracts expire) that you have the best shot of winning.

Avs are in my top 5 teams, but not 1 as you appear to be. A dedicated avs fan knows more than I do. I agree that these three trades together might be "nibbling the edges" too much, however I also don't see now as the time to invest a first rounder or a good prospect to fill that need.

As such I'll knock off the lewis trade and change what gets Fast.

It would be well worth getting the forward that would actually help your team in the playoffs vs the one you did in Fast as an example, you burn youth and you dont improve on paper. I really don't think Fast makes the Avs any better into the playoffs, Its just more and more of the same plug and play bottom 6 player.

To me thats a bigger waste of asset, in your updated trade, a 3rd for something you already have multiple versions of. Its just easier to stay pat and use that asset it more meaningful moves

perhaps. depends on the need i suppose. Avs are strong on bottom six. If not a 2nd line winger, what would you pay for? Nothing? Do you think a trade for said player makes the avs a serious contender now vs waiting a year?

I do think Avs have a legit shot of coming out of the West if healthy so starting to load up during their cup window (the MacKinnon contract) is there for the taking. Dont make a move just for the sake of making a move. But Sakic seems to always gets the guy he targets in the end. Ian Cole, Burakovsky, Donskoi, he had interest in these guys well before joining the team. He has tried to trade for Kreider twice now so its not goign to shock me he gets the deal done and has him extended. He wont burn assets on true rentals but for guys who he can have team control over afterwards he will

I want to believe we can get more than that for Harrington, but if we can't...
