Description

He's had a great rookie season for the Rangers. Hasn't put up points like Makar and Hughes but he does everything else great. Advanced stats back it up too. I just think he's been overlooked as a Calder contender

He's been great, but he won't make the Calder ballot. Makar and Hughes are having better rookie campaigns and Dominik Kubalik could score 30 goals as a rookie. Also if Elvis Merzlikins keeps standing on his head he might be in the conversation.

Yeah Kubalik is a quiet achiever. I think he will hit the 30 goal mark if he stays healthy. His chemistry with Toews has been brilliant.

However I believe Cale Makar will win. He is unbelievably good, Hughes also unbelievably good but if I had to pick between them I would go Makar.

VERY hard Calder race this year. Hardest I can remember in years. I'm bias (Hawks fan) and I do think Makar will be the clear winning in the end, BUT Kublaik (and Elvis by default) is the only one in that top 5 that doesn't get his scoring from the PP. Kubalik isn't even on the teams 2nd unit. He just gets tossed out there when injuries happen. He's been darn impressive. 19 out of 21 goals in 5V5 situations.
