Yeah due to injury

He might come out later in season for sure tho. He has been stellar this year and performed better than most of the guys on that list. The injury would cause him to go out, but at this point he still should be in top-10

Merzlinkins shouldn’t be on this list. He was awful the first month of the season and hardly saw the ice when Korpisalo was healthy. He’s been really good for only 2 weeks this season. I’d rather see Gavrikov on this list for Columbus as he's been a sure thing in the top 4 for Columbus and has even played well in the top 2 with Jones when called upon. Though it can be said that he’s playing with solid partners in Jones or Savard most of the season.

I’d switch Merzlikins and Bear. Other than that, looks good.

Samsonov needs some respect.

15-2-1, (has only started 16games) leads the nhl is GAA and is top 5 in SA%. Samsonov is the only goaltender in NHL history to win each of his first nine career road games in one season and one of just two goaltenders in NHL history to win each of his first eight career road games (Brent Johnson: Feb. 26, 1999 through Jan. 13, 2001 with St. Louis). He’s also won 10 straight games.

Agree Bear should be on this list. For a rookie to step into a 1st pairing role and do as well as he has is incredible. Even Hughes and Makar haven't been asked to play top comp every night like Bear has.

deserves a look? Yes. Likely in my top 10? Maybe by the end of the season. He is splitting starts with Holtby which def helps his performance (pretty sure he is splitting correct me if im wrong).

you cannot expect a guy to come back from basically a season ending injury and play maybe what, 5 games? if hes lucky to even return? And be considered for the Calder? Then again it is toronto so God knows he will get some votes regardless. Realistically Makar, Hughes, Kubalik, Marino, Necas are my top 5. Even ollifson is out because I believe he is out for another couple months (I think?)

He’s “splitting starts” bc the capitals ere trying to respect Holtby or give him a chance to snap out of his cold streak. Samsonov has officially taken the job. He has 15 wins in 16 starts. I agree his record might suffer from more starts but on the other hand playing more games might actually help him get into a rhythm.

The same could be said for any of these players though. "If Makar played 28 minutes a night his game would suffer." Managing playing time is something every coach does with every player, but especially rookies. The fact that he isn't getting 60 starts this year doesn't disqualify Samsonov at all.

I’d be surprised if he doesn’t get 70% of the remaining starts
