Rebuilding teams shouldn't be trading their picks down and taking on older players just to get Lehkonen.

It's just a 2021 3rd. Lehkonen would be better for their rebuild than that pick.

A third, 4 years of Byron until he is 34, and MacDermid. Take a look at our offensive prospects, we don't need to take 4 years of another old player for Lehkonen. Pass from the Kings.

24 isn't old. Byron is just a cap dump LA can easily absorb.

We have over 10 million in dead cap on players who aren't even on our team next year, no need to add more to that.

Even if the trade is pretty bad. The facts that paul byron is 30 here have absolutely no incidence on is play since he still is one of the fastest players in Nhl. Fast players don’t age the same then big checking players. Byron can still score 15-20 goal and is a true hame changer for a penalty kill unit. He was having a bad start this year but was olaying a lot better in the last 7-8 game before getting that leg injury. I have no doubt about is ability to come back and have a impact. Having a guy like him on the third line or fourth line of your hockey team is something all coaches want. He is very responsible on the ice and with is speed he strech the ice and open up space for team who like to generate offense eith the fast transition defence offense.

I think that sounds good for a team that is ready to win now, in terms of rebuilding we are certainly behind Montreal. The goal for the Kings this season is to get younger by providing opportunities to their young players, acquire picks, prospects, and start to clear cap space to offset our bad contracts. With this deal the Kings get older, downgrade a pick, add more cap space, and lose defense (an area where they are weak). This is just a bad match.

Like is said at the beginning i think that this trade is pretty bad. To team who are rebuilding, that doesn’t make sense for both team.

Montreal isn’t giving up Byron AND Lehkonen, for a player that they don’t even need. Montreal wouldn’t even do Byron or Lehkonen for MacDermid 1 for 1.

Value isn't even close for Montreal.

I wouldn't trade Lehkonen for those pieces.

I've given several reasons above why it's not a good fit for us right now, it's nothing against the player. I don't know what else you would like me to say, We don't want him for what we need to take on in that package as a rebuilding team.

Byron have value and he is a veteran, you could flip him for a pick if you wanted. It's just ridiculous you saying LA decline. It's like LA giving Dustin Brown with Kupari for a 3rd and MTL saying no we dont want Brown. No we will take this and flip Brown if needed ...

That is not the same, it's closer to us moving Kempe (similar numbers/age/contract) and Brown (modified-NTC/ nothing retained) for a 3rd, but I doubt you would take that deal. I do think you can get plenty from Lehkonen and Byron, it's just not going to be from a rebuilding team if they both have to be packaged together.
