It hurts, but Fowler to DET makes sense

Created by: Jded
Team: 2016-17 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 18, 2016
Published: Jul. 18, 2016
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
As much as it pains me to send anyone of value to DET, they have forwards in excess, and we have a dire need for top 9 Fwds. They also need d, and we have it. Just makes too much sense.

And I may be wrong, but I really like the look of a youth line with Ritchie - Raks - Jurco. Gives a promising young line of a power forward who can score, a playmaker with a scoring touch, and a strong 2-way fwd.

Last, I decided to give a long term contract to Raks instead of a bridge that would cost maybe a mil less just because I foresee some cap issues with Manson Theodore and Ritchie (among others) coming off ELC in 2 years. However, if this is too much $ we can just likely bridge Raks for something like 2 years at 2.75m (just under what Hertl got)

I think if you are buying out the rest of Lindholm RFA years and some of his UFA years he's going to want a contract upwards of 6mil.

Detroit would be stupid to give up Nyquist and Jurco for Fowler, Nyquist has 50-60 point potential, and may be able to score 30 or more goals next year.

To be honest Zach I thought the same but saw trades similar to this on a Detroit fan's cap friendly and that's what got me looking at Nyquist. Before it was all Tatar. The biggest reason I can see you guys going for it is it provides the defense you need, allows Tatar to fill his shoes in a bigger role, and sheds cap space. Gotta give to get, and personally, I believe this is quite fair
