While there is still hope get Kane a better center

Created by: hockeyguy1939
Team: 2019-20 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 20, 2020
Published: Jan. 20, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obviously the Blackhawks need defense more but who would they take and not move a bunch of assets to get. Hawks have enough cap space to take a flier on a center who is more offensively gifted center then Carpenter and is clearly not going to be playing past the 4th line in Pittsburgh. Galchenyuk is also a player Bowman has tried to get in the past so I bet they have already checked in on the pens. Sikura is kind of in the same boat as Galchenyuk but he has not had a year where he proved himself. Maybe hawks need to add a pick but pens are said to be looking for a mid round pick or a decent prospect.
Best case scenario for hawks Galchenyuk works out and they have to worry about signing someone else this summer, otherwise they just drop him in the summer.
Pens get immediate cap space for a team that looks more playoff bound and could add a major proven rental and maybe unlock Sikura's ability he showed in college.

I know a guy. Evan Barratt. And you probably should draft centerman in 2020 draft. Guy like Connor Zary or Jan Myšak outside top-10 and one of Rossi, Perfetti, Stutzle, Lundell in top-10.

Really like this move. Low-risk rental upgrade for the Hawks to make if they want to try and sneak into a wild card spot. Sikura just isn’t going to get the playing time he probably deserves in Chicago

Barratt doesn't have the speed or the hands. He's looked good in college, but his ceiling is 3rd line.

DACH?

Dach has looked good with Cat and Strome, and hasn't developed his offensive game enough yet to center Kane's line.

The Hawks let that ship sail when Stan didn't have the balls to get Ryan O'Reilly. He had always been the solution to the problem, but Stan just wouldn't fork over for him.

Shame I can't go back in time and camp out in front of Madison St. and make him listen, instead of being right in hindsight. So it goes.

I hear ya. BUT he hasn't even signed with the team yet and also if we're being honest he's take a slight step back this year. I hope he does sign with the Hawks. He's old enough and has the size that he may skip the AHL, but it's not easy. 110% agree with you on an outside top-10 center. True cetnermen are much harder to find than wingers. If they get a top 10 pick...go best available no matter what.

Caggs and Kuba have played great with Toews and look a good line. Sikura probably needs a change of scenery though I do still harbour hope he can make it in the NHL.
