Description

Edmonton gets a winger to try with Draisaitl and McDavid for cheap. Low risk move. Penguins might need to retain or Oilers might need to shed some salary to make it work but the idea is there.

Minnesota commits to a rebuild. Gives Koivu a chance to go for a cup.

Penguins get Koivu, who is still a very good defensive center as a rental and have Zucker and Brodin for multiple years.

Every player being added is great defensively (with underlying numbers that show that).

Pushes Jack Johnson out of the lineup. That problem can be dealt with in the offseason.

McCann can slot back in at 3C next season when Guentzel returns as a top 6 LW.

The result of all of these moves is the best defensive team in hockey, well, on paper anyway.

If you're targeting a defensive forward from MIN get Foligno, he's the best in the league (and we could get a Foligno vs Foligno matchup in the playoffs if CBJ makes it)

That actually might be the better option. He's also cheaper in terms of cap hit. He's also signed through next season, though that might not be necessary and they might want to keep him.

Not enough going to Minnesota if Brodin and Zucker are both being sent. Pit is getting a 1st line forward and top pairing D for Poulin and what would be a late first. POJ's stock has dropped a lot since his draft 3 years ago dude needs to gain mass if he is to ever turn into anything. At 6'2 you cant be weighing less than most players who are 5'10
