Wings pass. Bogo is a UFA at years end so we take on cap and get a fourth and trade a RFA and Helm. Wings have cap space but I doubt they take on cap and send players out for a 4th round pick.

Why in the hell would we move Helm+Svechnikov for a pending UFA we've no desire to resign? No way don't need or want Bogo.

i think they are just trying to say there is no need for bogo on detroit has nothing to do with the draft pick

Bogo is purely for balancing cap hit, not meant to add value to the trade

So what value is there in this trade for Wings? No cap issues next year, not going to contend so Helm is not a problem and Seatttle draft is still a year away. So again what is the value to trade those two players from a Wings perspective?

I say there is not a value.

they get a pick for a bad contract and a bust prospect. simple move for an attempt at a change of scenery. Could maybe add a prospect going the other way

A 4th round pick isn't worth much and Helm's contract not that bad and only has 1 year left after this season and his buyout isn'y bad at all. Now if you were taking Neilson or Abdelkader then a 3rd might be worth it. Or take the draft pickback and add Asplund instead. I chose Asplund because they both have the about same chance of making an NHL team. Asplund is a year younger but he was a second round pick and Svechnikov was a first round pick.
