It’s as far from realistic as possible from literally every angle

I honestly feel like this is a big overpayment. Marleau and Thornton might help you in the actual SCF against a team like the Blues, but I think they'd actually hurt you on the road to the ECF against teams like Tampa, Florida, and Toronto.

Why do you say that?

I could see Thornton going to Boston to win a cup and then retiring.

From my understanding, Thornton and the organization did not end on good terms. Being that Joe as a full NMC, I don't see him coming back to Boston.

Thornton isn’t playing for a team other than the sharks. No one is giving up a first and a prospect for him

Why do you say that?

1. Neither of those players will ever waive their no trade protection.
2. A first and Senyshyn is a beyond ridiculous price tag for that return.

He was traded 2005-06 when Mike O'Connell was GM and Sweeney is the third GM since then. Plus 14 years is a very long time. But with Boston being your favorite team I'm sure know the Bruins a lot better than I do.

Ownership (nor leadership) have really changed since Thornton left. Pretty sure they kicked tires on the idea a few years ago, but Joe wasn't interested. Joe's also said that he love San Jose. That's probably why he takes 1yr small money deals to keep playing.

It's funny you say that, because Old Joe wasn't much help in a 6-game loss to the Blues last spring. But yes, it's an overpay.

I have a little bit of knowledge about Thornton’s situation. He’s never playing for a team outside of San Jose.

I just said I could see Thornton going to Boston. I have no idea what the value would be.

Realistic? Lol.

Thornton has an NMC and hates the Bruins org. He’d retire before playing for them.

Secondly Thornton and Marleau combined are not worth more than a pair of 3rds.

Which is why i didn’t quote you. I quoted the poster who asked why I thought it was unrealistic.
