Galchenyuk isn't worth a 3rd on his own, let alone Khaira. Even with the retention

Is it because of all the goals he's scoring?

Gally - 40gp 16pt
Khaira - 42gp - 8pt

Already worth it for EDM.

A 3rd round pick for a guy who has 3 straight 40pt seasons and almost 3 straight 20 goal seasons isn't far fetched, especially with 1/2 his salary retained and it being a position of need (direly) for EDM.

Change my mind

Im not here to change your mind. I just think that AG isnt worth what you're saying. The guy has had opportunity after opportunity to play in the top 6 with injuries to Sid and Malkin and he's been terrible. He's a nearly 5 million dollar former first rounder who is now on the 4th line of a good team. He has a value of a league minimum player right now, i dont care what he did before. We are talking about value right now. if you think he's that valuable you wouldnt be replacing him with a less talented player in Khaira.

It's not about talent it's about fit, that's why he's doing bad in PIT. Khaira is a big body C which we could use IMO and Gally is a finesse player who didn't mesh with Sid or Geno(which many "star" or "talented" players didn't in the past) and he isn't the type of player who's going to drive his line, he needs someone else, hence going to try it out with McDavid/Draisaitl.

EDM gets what they need - top 6 winger who you can't argue has a ton of skill, he just is the complete wrong fit for the system he's in.
PIT gets what they need/what I think they could use - bottom C center who's big and draft capital. IDC if we got a 4th instead of a 3rd, I just think it's more realistic with a 3rd, but obviously my POV may be biased as a PENS fan

You forgot to mention:

Galchenyuk - pending UFA
Khaira - 1 more year then RFA

But anyhow, Edmonton's 2020 3rd is spoken for: they're going to have to send it CGY due to the conditions in the Real Deal Neal Steal. A 4th is as high as they should go on Galchenyuk.

I don't think that their contract status is really all that important for this trade TBH as EDM has the money to retain Gally but I get what you're saying
And like I said in the trade, personally I think a 3rd is fair but a 4th would do as well, maybe even a 3rd in 2021 or 2022, or whatever.

Have you seen him play recently? That and the fact that he's on a bargain contract for one more season makes him worth a first right now. Minimum...
