Lets knock someones skates off

Created by: MajesticWalrus
Team: 2019-20 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 21, 2020
Published: Jan. 21, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Beagle, Jay
  2. Stecher, Troy
Additional Details:
Lowkey good move for both teams. Vancouver gets a good offensive defenseman for the right side who can play on the powerplay. Pens get a really good two-way defender whos likely cheaper even in the offseason. And they get a good defensive face off winning centre for the 3rd line. The cap swap is equal. The canucks also get a defender that probably wont need as much of a raise as stecher.
2.
FLA
  1. Addison, Calen
  2. Galchenyuk, Alex
Additional Details:
Both have expiring deals and florida is looking to trade one of their pending ufa wingers cause they likely cant afford dadonov and hoffmans pay raise in the offseason. And galchenyuk will likely take less money cause he hasnt performed up to his contract. Obviously dadonov is better and gets a great prospect in return as well. Maybe a conditional pick could be involved too.
3.
PIT
  1. Brodin, Jonas
  2. Zucker, Jason
  3. 2020 5th round pick (MIN)
  4. 2020 7th round pick (MIN)

He’d be a better choice because it’s the term that’s the issue and Baertschi would only be under contract for one more year after this one

Stecher, Beagle for Schultz: Pitt looses big.
Beagle is on a horrible contract. Probably wouldn't want him at 50% retained. Age and production... all signs point to no.
Stecher is the equivalent of Ruhwedel (or Riikola).
Counter with a 5th for Strecher. You can keep Beagle.

Dadonov for Galchenyuk and Addison: Florida balks
I'm high on Addison, but I do not see Florida moving a nearly ppg guy for futures when they are in the playoff hunt.

Stecher can play top line minutes. Hes way better than riikola or ruhwedel

Great two way players. Baertschi was a league leader in his giveaway to takeaway ratio and he can produce. Beagle is good defensively and can win face offs like bonino.

They Suck. Beagle has 1 goal and 12 assists in two seasons in Vancouver at 5v5. His line has been outscored at 5v5 47-23 . They have been outshot 567 to 407. He is getting wrecked in every measurable category for being a good "two way" player. Baertschi can't even stay in this league let alone play for a cup contender.

Meh. I'd rather just keep Schultz than get that package in return.

Either way a stecher thats less expensive is a steal. If you dont like baertschi, he can always not get resigned at the end of the season.

Not if you have to take on those other garbage contracts. They also have term after this season which is a killer. The Pens don't need extra contracts after this season unless it is a true top 6 winger

Why do people keep acting like FL isn't in the playoff hunt and will just trade their good players because you want them.
Last I looked FL was in 3rd place in the Atlantic and hoping to make the playoffs. Not sell their pieces.
FL doesn't even pick up the phone.

Everything is realistic.. But one thing.

If you don't trade Simon you better believe Sullivan will find a way to put him on the top six. I understand he is a very competent NHL player. But Sully acts like he is the reason why Sid is still great.

I'd love to get a bigger D-man as well. Not a pure enforcer, but more than what we have. That Boston game ended up going our way, but Letang and Sid needed to bring some nasty. Easy to get hurt that way. Look at that Philly game that lost Dumo and Letang last year. Jack can lay a good hit from time to time, but he isn't as athletic as I'd like. Riikola and Chad aren't nasty at all. So I'm glad you gave us two guys back there with NHL bodies. Marino deserves top four minutes no matter what as well.
