I have a better idea: we sign Shattenkirk for $4.5MM and keep Manson, Silfverberg and our second-round pick, which should be better than 40th overall.

Silfverberg for a late 2nd? Lol... awful value. I want nothing to do with Shatty. He’s terrible and needs to be heavily sheltered to be any good. Basically just stick him on the PP with no 5-on-5. Not worth 4.5M per. Don’t know why we’re adding to a top 4 D-man for a 1 season wonder winger. Pass!

Not everything is perfect in a world of hockey. You might value players differently

Clearly, but you value players incorrectly. Since when was a 25-25 2nd line winger with elite defensive skills worth a late 2nd? You’re happy when a 2nd rounder becomes a solid NHLer. Silf is well past that. Shhhessshhh... talk about overvaluing prospects and picks. Ridiculous!

I know silfverberg can be worth a little more but I’m talking about realistically. Relax man, god damn

Realistically, we wouldn’t trade him for a 2nd. He’s literally having one of his best years to date. You’re talking a minimum of a 1st + potential replacement (former late 1st round prospect). We’re not talking slightly more value, we’re talking a lot more. A 2nd is a gross undervaluation of Silf and his abilities.

Would you trade Saad for a late 2nd? Is Saad worth a late 2nd round pick from a contender? Would you be ok with someone creating a thread that suggested Saad, a quality 25g-25a winger, was worth a late 2nd rounder?

Exactly!
