Let Gourde play in Syracuse to find his game

Created by: jasalex
Team: 2019-20 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 14, 2020
Published: Jan. 21, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1 goal in 2 months. Put Volkov on the third line until JBB finds us a new third line player. Volkov may surprise and maybe Gourde finds his game. If Gourde claimed one less cap problem. I liked Gourde but this is just business.

Tyler goes back to third line center, maybe he will show value for off season trade.

If I were OTT or DET I would pick him up off waivers before he got to Syracuse. He's still on pace to get ~40 points this year and only get's 14:14 ATOI. His cap his is indeed far to high, but for a team where than matters less.... Might be better to take the risk. TBL gets him off their books.

Gourde lucky to get 30 points .. hasnt scored since NOVEMBER .. your suggestion on just "waiving him" is a good one .. why the hell not .. my question is waiving a NTC player .. can someone claim him and Gourde HAS to go? . If so I guess the strategy is to trade him for best deal you can get.. and if Gourde says NO due to NTC .. just waive him

NMC means he goes no where. NTC means no trade but waiver an option. I don’t think he has much value at the moment. I Syracuse he may figure it out or maybe will take him at no cost.

Gourde isn't very likely to end up in Syracuse or waived tbh. He is slightly overpaid for his production and deployment this year but his overall body of work is fine. He, unlike some bolts, never seems to take a game off and is valuable to the team in more ways than just point production this year. If he's willing to waive his ntc then try to to trade him for a 2nd perhaps but odds are unless it's another serious contender, it's not happening. He's getting the Millee treatment from last year and while Gourde isn't as good of a goal scorer as Miller, he's certainly better than a .4 ppg player. Maybe Tampa is doing this in order to build a better case for him to waive the ntc, who knows, but he does have some value more than what most are spouting on here

I agree with most. I like Gourde and his tenacity. The problem as you stated he is the new Miller, not given the right position. His trade value is at a low, mostly due to the contract amount and length. Read many articles saying they want another top nine forward at the TDL. Well if it is not Gourde then cut him now and let him play. After this season two of Killorn, Palat, Johnson and Gourde need to be moved to pay those coming off ELC. Only Killorn will have a partial NTC, so something has to give.

I believe only one of those 4 will need to be moved in order to make it work with the rfa's next season. A lot will depend on who they see as more expendable and who could bring back the best value. If none of them will waive their ntc, then the decision comes between trading Killorn for what will likely be his best value possible or perhaps waiving a player like Gourde in the hope that he will get claimed. So lose that player for nothing if they won't waive or get good value for Killorn in order to sign the rfa's.
