its not just the points though, heinen has a high hockey iq and a great two way game. just because he doesnt score goals, doesnt mean he isnt incredibly valuable to that 3rd line.
And you are basing that on what? Coach speak? What they said the reason they had for not benching him when his offense disappeared?
What B’s fans heard: He’s great defensively. Does all the little things.
Reality: He’s not really. Was part motivation/confidence builder, part it’s him or Backes ??♂️.
Does not offer anything Bjork and Kuhlman don’t. Those 2 even get some PK time, something Heinen does not for all his defensive wizardry fans believe he has.
He’s the largest cap hit on the team that is, moveable, replaceable, has trade value. Soft as a baby’s a$$. Production has dropped, not used on the PK.
I place some of the blame on the team. He’s bounced around between LW/RW and every line for 2 years. He was at his best when he had a regular role and regular linemates.
He’s a complimentary piece, not a difference maker that has been regressing. Palmeiri would be an upgrade. And difficult to obtain without moving Heinen’s cap hit. And if you could who do you bench in favor of Heinen? Bjork or Kuhlman who are both playing as well or better than him.?
