the team sure looks close to contending with thoes guys as core but hey think what you want.

if you think red wings are 2-3 years away from contending for a cup keep him anything more than that better to recoup value and parlay it to building future.
tho detroit does have a history of just keeping guys around.
1st off, the keeping of players past their prime is the previous GM not the current GM. If you are going to make. A comment like that at least know wthat we changed GM's. Stevie said that he needs time to review the organization. Several deals drop of at seasons end. Daley, Ericcsson ,Green, Howard and he will also get rid of several other either thru trades or buyouts.
2nd Mantha is 25, by your own logic zbBuffalo should trade Eichel he is 24 and that team has won nothing. Stupidity to make such an argument.
Wings have several young players in the system:
Veleno 20yo
Rasmussen 19 yo
Zadina 21 yo
Cholowski 22yo
Seider 18 yo
And several still in Europe and North America. Plus the Wings will have over 38 million cap space next year. Again you show your ignorance at knowing anything about a team that you look at the record and say they suck and will suck foryears and know nothing about.
Lastly by your own logic I guess Larkin and Bertuzzi should be dealt because the Wings are at least 5 years away. And in 2 to 3 years people like you will say you need to trade the next group to supply the rebuild and then it begins a circle of develop, trade and develop never reaping the benefit of the the development and entering a continous rebuild.
