All be it as a show me 1-2 year deal. JPG on the other hand does not have the history to be worth nearly that much. Other than this year what has he done to be worth that much.

The other issue is if you look at the long term. How are you going to pay Marino. He's gonna get a big pay day at this point. probably adding 5 million maybe more from his current salary.
How do you handle that with nothing coming off the books.

I'd handle it by negotiating with Marino the same way they've negotiated with the other young players. Take advantage of RFAs having limited rights and sign low value deals. A two year extension for Marino would be very possible, especially with a rising cap. In the period of two years Id expect to lose one of Demelo/Pageau/Hornqvist/petterson to seattle. Surely Jarry and Murray cannot both be kept long term, somebody would need moved. I would not be giving any player NMCs or NTCs. Pageau is signed long term but I would not expect him to be here long term.

I also go by the philosophy that your hands being tied in 2022 doesnt mean much if you win in 2020, so be it
