Quoting: PLDGEY
Youre gonna have to really sell the Sens on this.
As of now, Pageau should go for a first. What makes these prospects better?
My thinking here is that obviously first round picks, and all picks majority wise are gambles. Additionally, with a move like this, I would hope you could expect a team like the Flyers to be able to not only make the playoffs, but perhaps win a round or two. They clearly have shown over the entirety of this season that not only can they defend their home ice, but that they can beat the best teams in the league, literally (St. Louis on the road, Washington, Boston, Pittsburgh at home). So if they were theoretically looking at that first round pick as a late 1st, its an even bigger gamble than earlier in the first round. Isaac Ratcliffe has been rated as a solid prospect over the last several years, maybe even more so than what you would get at the back end of the first, in addition to receiving a RHD dman who showed he wasn't overmatched playing bottom pairing minutes, and additionally getting a 2nd round pick.
I understand what you're saying though, and perhaps maybe a condition could be set that if Pageau plays in 75% of playoff games and they make the ECF's or beyond, that it would turn into a 2021 first round pick, or something along those lines.
