No, but as you see with Montreal this year Weber is the captain Gally and Byron are the assistants but as both are injured Petry and Thompson are currently wearing the A on their jersey meaning that they are alternate assistants

Why Danault? His playstyle typically gets undervalued at contract time, and therefore will always give more bang for your buck. I would sooner trade Domi or Gallagher than Danault. They are both going to ask for a ton of money, and both play a style that will take a huge toll on their body and makes longterm contracts risky. If you want to play all 3 kids at center, trade Thompson for anything.

rangers have 4 too. all alternates. but when McDonaugh was the captain there were 3 alternates beside him. Its not unheard of.

If you're trading Danault it's only for the 1st pair LHD that MTL has been needing and it's likely at the draft. But they would have to be absolutely sure that Suzuki or KK are taking that role moving forward.

eum trading Danault for a young top4 RHD sign long term will make it more easy to sell high on Petry for another need
What's your opinion on that ?

Until at least one of Suzuki, KK or Poehling prove they are a top line center, Danault isn't going anywhere IMO.

I can see that to but if you look at the draft I think you can get that top 4 dman if you're MTL, if you're in the top 10 you got a shot at Drysdale, if they're in the 11-15 range Barron and Schneider are both RHD and I think this is a trade done at that time, not this season so that's where I think they will use all thier informationto make that decision.

Then all you do is sign a stop gap UFA like Vatanen or if you want to really stay competitive Barrie but that's still easier said then done. I do think RHD would be easier to replace this offseason then most though so people panicking over losing Petry is exaggerated.

First off, trading Gallagher at all in the next 4 years is a good way to enrage almost all the habs fans the backlash would almost be as big as trading price would be. Secondly, I don't want to trade Danault but in order for the team to tell everyone that they are committing to this would be to trade those 4 players or more because those 4 players really help raise the floor for the team from bottom of the league to a competitive team that can compete with anyone on any given night

Thank you smile also just a fun fact the 5 longest tenured habs on this roster are
1. Price
2. Gallagher
3. Lindgren
4. Lehkonen
5. Weber

I know that but this is a retool and Montreal has 3 strong center prospects and like 7 average prospects in the minors the odds that not one of them reaches the same level of play as Danault or become better than him are like 1 in 50 I like those odds enough to take a gamble

Gallagher is going to fall off a cliff soon due to injuries because of his play style. I get we all love him, but Bergevin is suppose to think whats best for the team. He had no issue trading fan favourite Subban. If Montreal signs Gallagher to a long term deal over 6M and his career is riddled with injuries, then what? He is currently out with a concussion and he gets ran or punched often enough as it is. I personally would sell high now and rebuild this team around the kids.

To rebuild around kids you need mature players to mentor them and on this team the 5 oldest players are Price Weber Thompson Chairot and Gallagher and 2 of them are still in their 20s if you remove Gallagher the next oldest players are Armia Cousins Kulak and Lindgren who currently are still finding their own games and are in no position to be mentoring others meanwhile the 5 oldest here are able to mentor.

anyone who thinks Danault is going anywhere is out of their minds, unless its for something big he isn't going anywhere! getting better as he ages and is one of the best shutdown Centers in the league.
