Not a good trade. Haula is not all that and a pure rental which the Hawks should not be in the market for. Fluery is a RFA and he's okay. Saad is better then either player easily. Gus for Fluery is decent I guess but Saad for a 1st and rental makes no sense.

Haula would extend to a cheap deal

I wouldn't do this if I were CAR. Not that the trade value isn't there. I think it is. It's just that Fleury is getting more ice time now that Dougie is out. He's playing well as a cheap RFA. Don't trade him away. He can be a solid piece for a long time with CAR. Also, it's not like Dougie's out for the year. Bones heal faster than ligaments. He'll be back before the playoffs and CAR will have allowed their younger Dmen more ATOI to develop. Heck give Bean some NHL ice time.

I respect your opinion. I just think this would mainly benefit Chicago just because this leaves room for Kubalik and Lehner to extend to big money

I’d hardly call Gus a replacement for Hamilton. Hamilton was easily their best defenseman and Gus can barely be called one. I do like getting Fleury and a 1st though.

Gus was a 60 point defenseman

He's not now. If CAR sees their PP decline. Then I could see Gus's value, but he's really an offensive Dman. Not a defensive Dman let alone a 2-way Dman.

Saad is a WAY better winger. No thank you on Haula. There is a reason Vegas let him go.

My main point to trade saad is to free up cap

That makes zero sense if that's your main goal. Saad should be returning a 1st and a B+ prospect. So that value is there in the 1st and Fleury, but then trading Gus for Haula who we don't need (also a pure rental Hawks have zero rights to a UFA) and if you're going to play Haula on the wing that is a big downgrade from Saad. I'd rather have a 2nd round pick for Gus then to take Haula.
