Change the 3rd to a 4th on Scandella, VGK isn’t trading Krebs and BUF isn’t trading Montour

what ? they are all fair trades, the one almost impossible is the Danault trade but in terms of value it is fair

Danault's going nowhere.

I wish, but Krebs ain't getting traded. Glass, maybe?

The ask for Tatar is just a little high, I suspect, but it's in the range.

If he's willing to stay and have some load management, the Habs should plan to keep Kovalchuk.

Fair point, I just don’t see Buffalo giving up on Montour since they payed such a heavy price for him last deadline

Yeah like I said they'll move Risto Miller before him but for Danault to Buffalo, he is the only piece interesting

Montreal is not in a position in which they can trade Philipp Danault. None of their centres prospects are ready to take the "#1 line" responsibility.
Considering Vegas already lost Brannstrom, Suzuki and a 1st pick turned Veleno, Vegas are not in a position to trade their prospects.

Kovalchuk has five points in his last five games, and four of them are goals. If he can stay healthy, he could be an interesting pickup for the Caps' third line and second power play unit. Someone's going to comment that he could help Ovechkin push for the Richard trophy, but again, four of Kovalchuk's last five points (and most of his career points) are goals. Will he stop teams from covering Ovechkin as closely? A few years ago, totally. Now? I'm not so sure.

Reuniting Boyd and Barbour to push for the Calder Cup is already worth more than a great third line rental, before adding a third round pick. More likely that the Caps would want to deal Panik, though.

Panik is a capdump for MTL so Kovy vs Panik + 1st rd pick or Kovy + a pick alone if you don’t want to deal Boyd

My mistake. I agree the cap space is different between Panik and Kovalchuk. But he's eight years younger, and also picking it up a little bit after a slow start. I thought long term, three years out, Panik could be more valuable, but with all the Habs' great prospects, I could also see them just wanting to keep a space open for Barbour or Vejdemo or someone.
