Which package would OTT rather have in retrospective

Created by: ThatGuy
Team: 2019-20 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 22, 2020

Description
What would Ottawa rather have?

1) The package they gave up to Colorado which then leads to the SJ trade never happening; or

2) or losing the the pieces in the Colorado Trade but having the SJ packages

Not taking anything way from what Sakic was able to do in Colorado, specifically with the Duchene situation.

But, I think that Dorion was able to "redeem himself" with this SJ trade. Especially with how well Norris is playing in the AHL (top 5 in SCORING in the league as a rookie?!?!) and OTT most likely landing a top 5-10 pick in a deep draft (maybe better).

The SJ pick can probably get us a prospect as good as Byram almost. And Norris is looking amazing, Sogard could be the future starter, Demelo is good and Tierney could probably be traded for a 2nd rounder or a bit more. Bowers hasn't looked so good, so out of that side its mostly Byram and Girard. Girard and Norris could be pretty similar in value but Ottawa has better pieces right now.

Jamie Drysdale would probably be the RHD version of Byram and the final prospect that will make the Sens forget about the abysmal Duchene trade. If they can't get him there's still Rossi, Askarov, Lundell, Stutzle (I kinda feel that German kid is lock in the top 3 tho) or one of the Swedish twins.

Then again, I think you're missing something. If Turris was the only one being moved, Mark Stone, Ryan Dzingel and Erik Karlsson with his absymal contract would've still be with the Sens.

Karlsson's contract wouldn't be so bad if he didn't hurt himself last playoffs, which he wouldn't have with Ottawa.

While we're at it, if Karlsson didn't hurt himself, the Sens would've probably won the Cup. Even w/ Anderson no longer playing out of his mind, the Sens would've still be a very good-decent team w/ Karlsson at the helm (he would've been living up to his 11-11.5 M contract and still in the Norris conversation). The core would've probably remain intact. I can't even imagine the pairing Chabot-(Healthy 2017 Karlsson)
