Pens Saad heads home Lehner goes to Car

Created by: ChiHawk
Team: 2019-20 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 22, 2020
Published: Jan. 22, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It's with a heavy heart we move saad but Hawks need to face reality and get younger. Saad is on pace for 27 goals and 44 points and for a defensive power forward that is great production. He is exactly the type of player that would fit the Pens.

Again, I would be pretty upset losing Saad but have a feeling the Hawks need to face reality and continue rebuilding.

Well to be fair, Lehner didn't say he wanted to test the market. He said he really likes it in Chicago but he isn't going to take a pay cut to play anywhere. If Stan ponies up the money I feel he would have no problem staying off the market

I don’t think the Blackhawks are a rebuilding team anymore considering they just signed lehner and traded for a bunch of d men in the off-season

That's a BIG NOPE from Carolina, you aren't getting a bluechip prospect like Bean for a pending UFA goalie who only works in tandem like Lehner, PLUS 2 FIRSTS. Get outta here. Chicago fans need to be real with Lehner's value

Where do you see (2) 1sts? Bean or Fluery, pick your poison. Lehner is top 5 goalie in the league (head and shoulders above both of your backup goalies), if you don't think that comes at the price of a 1st and a B+ prospect then don't know what else to tell you.

Reimer has posted a .921, Lehner has a .922. Reimer has 3 shutouts. Lehner has 0. Please re-evaluate your comment

Do you know what advanced stats are? Try looking into it...obviously Reimer plays behind a far superior defense. Just one stat to think about; GSAA Lehner ranks 4th in the league, Reimer ranks 20th. If you think Reimer is a better goalie then you are completely lost.

Oh advanced stats okay. Reimer has a far superior HDS%, and a far superior xGAR. I can win this argument either way my friend. The fact is Lehner is overrated by Hawks fans. Top 10 goalie? Yeah. Top 5? No.

LMAO, so in your opinion you think Reimer is a better goalie? Yes, by most measures Lehner is a top 5 in the league if not top 6.

I'm not saying Reimer is a better goalie. I'm saying that giving up 3 1st rounders or the equivelant of for a tiny improvement on Reimer isn't worth it. Please do not try to put words in my mouth. Lehner is the 7th/8th best goalie in the league. Reimer, based on his performance this year, is knocking on the top 10, both from a base stat and analytical perspective. So, Lehner is not "head and shoulders better than our backup goalie"

Where do you see (3) first rounders? Are you seriously okay? It's (1) 1st round pick and said either Bean or Fluery. The 3rd round pick is conditional.

Reimer is middling goalie; GSAA is great way to look at that and EVEN THEN I'd argue he's playing behind one of the best defenses in the league. You put Reimer in Chicago and he's not cracking .900 SV % or barely.

Edit: That's my mistake there are 2 seconds I misread
Looking at EH's team defense rating, it's negative. It's actually an attribute to his stats that he plays behind the defense he does because it has underperformed.

Reimer is a top half goalie, this year he's a fringe top 10 goalie.
The 3 1st rounders come from Bean (a 1st round draft pick himself) the 1st (duh) and the conditional 1st.

According to Friedman, the Penguins have been consistently pursuing Zucker, so I don't think Saad is going to Pittsburgh

So I do think this is a bit much. Jake Bean is a lot to give up. He's part of the long term future in CAR. I don't forsee him leaving at all. The pick on the other hand I do think CAR should trade away for a goalie specifically. Reimer is in his 10th year and we know he's a backup goalie. We can agree and likely do agree that he's playing well right now, but he's still a backup. The goalie position in the playoffs is something you can't mess around with. IMO it's the single biggest weakness CAR has and it's by a country mile. That defense is WAY too good to start saying career backups (or proven sub par goalies when they do start) are now suddenly playoff caliber goalies.

CAR is in the PERFECT position to make a move.

Went to the ECF last year. - Check They're contenders
Have ALL of their main pieces locked up on good contracts. - Check
Have many HIGH quality prospects both already in the NHL on ELCs like Svech and Necas - Check
and in their system like Bokk/Bean/Suzuki/etc... - Check
They have lots of draft picks. - Check

If you don't make a move this year for a Glaring hole when you are a Cup Contender.....When would you EVER trade away a 1st rounder? If not this year, then it's never. AND that would be very unfortunate for CAR fans. Multiple teams every year trade away 1st rounders because they take the playoffs serious. When everyone else gets better...than makes the person standing still worse. Take a look at the article below. It's not a lot to give up a late 1st.

I think instead of Bean then Fleury is an option.
