Gourde isn't leaving Tampa for Vancouver, And Tampa doesn't have the cap space to sign those two. Without moving out at least two expensive contracts. And seeing that the most expensive contracts have full NTC good luck with that.

True, but he can still be sent down to the minors...aka...waiver wire. I think your guy Stevie Y will claim him. DET doesn't have much to lose doing that. Gourde doesn't get a lot of ice time. I could see him being a guy that gets 17-18 minutes a game in DET and getting back to a decent NHL player.

Under your example shown here, the lightning would end up being over the cap still....

I think they both end up with 3 years 4.5 to 4.9. Still puts us over top. The one wild card is that Kuch is NMC does kick in till July. JBB might be thinking it is time to get a couple of great prospects and a pick, if they win the cup this year. SY and JBB have painted themselves into a corner.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see some teams O/S these guys. Cirelli could fetch 6.3 and sergachev could get O/S as well. If they get O/S yeah TBL could try and move a big contract but teams are going to bend you over if you try and unload a big contract. Tampa is in deep sh*t

Tampa saves a minimal of cap by sending him to the minors. Yzerman was the partial architect of the cap problems in Tampa with his NTCs. Gourde isn't worth his 5.16 m a year, Wings will spend that money better if Yzerman has learned anything about being handcuffed by poor contracts.
