What is the deal with Andersson these days? It's starting to seem like a Puljujarvi situation a bit isn't it?

Ya it is a sticky situation - I wish they could do a Puljujarvi swap, both guys haven't performed at all at the NHL. NYR and EDM did have a deal in place but I believe that EDM pulled out last second, they may have been asking for something more in return.

That would've been a perfect cleared slate for both. Holland may have pulled the "my guy can perform well in Europe" card or something. Hopefully it gets revisited. Or maybe a team walks away with both of them. Maybe they should play together, double prove-it. I honestly wasn't a fan of Andersson after the World Juniors where he threw his silver medal into the crowd. It was a bad look for him.

It really would be a perfect slate for both teams, i understand both NYR and EDM are going to hold out until they get their valued return but it seems fair for both players and teams to start with new team or player.

I also think EDM has a bad taste in their both with NYR after the spooner/Strome swap.

You overvalue Georgiev here. He's not bringing a return like that from TOR since they have their goaltending sorted with Andersen. No chance.

I am just waiting for the next time Gieogiev gets a shut out, then we'll see Ranger fans saying. "You want Gieorgiev, it starts with Nylander". This is just dumb

While Andersson hasn't done much to help himself...the NYR organization has failed big time to put him in a position to succeed and develop. Probably hasn't helped morale to see players like Smith and Haley (2 guys who probably aren't AHL worthy forwards) get ice time over him...In the end he took his ball and went home. Right now Lias has very little value. Recent reports are that he's skating with a local B level team at home in Sweden...hope he can get his head on straight and get back in the game...he has a bit to work on (namely skating)...but there is still a chance to find his way as a middle 6 forward in the NHL- one who is a puck hound and very annoying to play against...most teams can use a guy like that...but first things first.

I'm actually surprised Edmonton and NYR have not at least talked about swapping Andersson and Pool party.

Georgiev should not be fetching more than a pick and prospects. No offense but look what Grubaur went for when Washington traded or Bishop with Ottawa etc.

There were reports that the Rangers offered Andersson for Puljujarvi even up and the Oilers said no. Puljujarvi hasn't shown a lot in North America but Andersson has shown even less.
As for Georgiev, I dont know if he makes sense for Toronto. He is more a guy to get if you think he can be your starter. The Leafs should just pick up a cheap backup.

I didn't know about Edmonton and NYR talking, interesting, thanks for the update.

As for Georgiev, Andersen will be a UFA after next season and while talking extension is the ideal thing, Andersen won't come cheap. So this is where Georgiev may come in.

With the 4 forwards locked into big deals (Mathews, Marner, Tavares and Nylander) Dubas will need to find good deals on D and goaltending. Georgiev may be a backup or a tandem option.

Exact quote from Elliot Friedman on 31 thoughts. You sir, are an idiot:

"Before the Dec. 1 signing deadline, word is the Oilers re-engaged some of the clubs who had shown previous interest in Jesse Puljujarvi. That includes the Rangers, St. Louis and Tampa Bay. I believe they discussed Lias Andersson with New York, and think Puljujarvi wanted to go there, but things couldn’t close."

are you reading the same thing as the regular world? is comprehension that difficult for you? read what you wrote, then read what friedman wrote. edmonton does not want andersson, never wanted andersson. if they wanted andersson the trade would have happen. end of story.

End of story Greg, can't wait to see you managing the blueshirts in a couple years!!! You clearly take this way too seriously

You are right Greg, end of story. Clearly you will be managing the blueshirts and take this forum very seriously where some of us are simply having conversation based off speculation.

Hopefully you can bring us back to those 1994 memories!!!
