    Give up Suzuki or Caufield in lieu of Mete and Evans and this is probably fair.

    Don't see the Rangers doing this. If they wanted, they would cut out Montreal and deal Lemieux to Edmonton

    I mean two teens picks, a blue chip player for first overall isn't absolutely crazy. This is why first overalls aren't traded.

    You do realize even this lottery scenario happens the trade will not happen. Evans is somewhere between a 4th line player and a good AHL player. Mete is a solid Dman 2nd at best more likely a 3rd pair dman. Detroit has no reason at all to trade that pick. So if Montreal wants that pick it won't be anything close to a fair trade. I'd say drop Mete and Evans and add Caufield and Romanov. If thats too much then you don't really want Lafreniere.

    Romanov and caufield is a total overpaid since you'll get byfield too. It make absolutely no sense to trade them all for one player. We will just wait until he's UFA then and bring him back home at this price. Remove Evans and replace him by Jesse Ylonen. So i dont see where it's not fair if you're in rebuild and you get the 2nd overall pick Byfield, you get a mid 1st round plyaer in a talented draft so just say Dawson mercer is pick . You also get an early 2nd round pick and a young defenseman who can play on many chair as he play with weber on a first pair but can be really good on a third pair with a good teammate.

    Byfield --> Lafreniere
    Mercer
    Mete
    Ylonen
    early 2nd round with Chicago pick

    I know this lottery scenario is unlikely to happen but if so and you pick second and receive all of this i personnaly think i wont be thinking of you're organisation well being to refuse it.

    If you are talking fair then yes with no picks is close to fair.

    Actually I seriously doubt Detroit would take it. There is a lot of hype surrounding Lafreniere maybe being one the best prospect since McDavid (not my opinion) but he is real good and another player like him might not come around for 5 or 10 years. Since Detroit doesn't have to trade him or the pick, so they hold all the cards and can ask for whatever they want. It's Now if he refused to play for Detroit then that would give the Montreal some leverage and then your offer would probably work but then just about every other team would be submitting proposals.

    Do you remember Eric Lindros? There was a lot of hype around him just like Lafreniere. He refused to play for Quebec and they had to trade him and Philly traded: Steve Duchesne, Peter Forsberg, Ron Hextall, Kerry Huffman, Mike Ricci, $15M cash, 1993 1st round pick (#10-Jocelyn Thibault), 1994 1st round pick (#10-Nolan Baumgartner) and future considerations (Chris Simon). They had to trade him.
