One could make the argument for the defense too. Compare this to the Beijing USA post that was just put up as well. Defense on the American side looks young and strong.

Canadian Norris winners of the last decade: Giordano, Burns (not great this year), Keith (not making this team), Subban (shell of his former self)...

Shea Weber might be able to make this team. The other members of the 2016 Canadian World Cup team: Muzzin and Vlasic are not making this team. There just seems to be such a swift decline in Defense for Canada.

Jonathan Toews would be a dark horse and I'm definitely a homer but he's been more productive this season and last than his entire career. He brings that leadership and championship pedigree only Sidney Crosby can match.

the defense isn't awful... i'm surprised that's all we have for goalies.

We can argue whether or not he deserves it, but i struggle to see a scenario where scheifele gets picked for 4th line center over Bergeron, just because of the role that player would likely be asked to play.

Guys like Holtby, Dubnyk and MAF are still around at decently high levels, I don't trust them to project them on this team in two years though. If Keumper keeps his play up he might get considered but I don't see that as a sure thing. However Carey Price is Carey Price, he will always have my trust (our generation's Broduer). Binnington and Hart are already two of the best and getting better so I think this trio will look a little more appealing when the time comes.

But to answer your question, yeah right now this is the situation

Crosby, Stamkos, and Drew Doughty might be getting long in the tooth by 2022, but I still wish that McDavid and Stamkos could play together.

They will but I think Crosby is going to age pretty well, assuming his head stays right there aren’t a lot of miles on that body just yet, and his game doesn’t rely on speed.

I think Doughty is a lock too. That D core is very young and leans a little more to the offensive side than a typical Canadian blue line, doughty there with his experience and defensive ability is a necessity.

Stamkos and Couture are two players that I think are most likely to be replaced if someone can emerge in the next couple years, but as of now I don’t see anyone I can confidently project ahead of them in two years. I guess maybe Lafrenier depending on his first couple NHL seasons
