Michael Russo Rumor

Initial Creation Date: Jan. 22, 2020

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Allegedly, according to Wild writer Michael Russo, Erik Haula and Rod Brind'Amour has been feuding over playing time and the status of his right knee, to the point that Haula was healthy-scratched last night and he may have requested a trade for more playing time. He therefore may be on the outs very soon, if this speculation is actually correct. I really would rather keep Haula because he's been so good for Carolina in his role as a skilled third line center.

Damn I would love Haula as the 3rd line center in Pittsburgh but I don't know what we could offer you guys. Plus we're in the same division. But you could definitely get a lot for Haula

IF Haula has in fact requested a trade, the Canes are likely looking for a RHD with term in lieu of Hamilton's injury. Colin Miller would really fit the bill here. He's underappreciated from an analytical standpoint, but has been healthy-scratched numerous times recently because of Jokiharju's emergence as a top-4 defensive talent on the right side.

Close... hes been a healthy scratch because somebody thinks playing Bogosian and Scandella over him is a good idea (it isnt).

It's the strong-sides fallacy playing itself all over again, at least where Scandella's concerned. I have no clue why anyone would play Bogo over Miller. If any team can take advantage of Botterill/Krueger and their belief in strong sides over talent, it's Carolina.

Would you do it for Schultz? When he's healthy he's a solid offensive defenseman and Marino has kinda made him expendable

Carolina's not likely to trade Haula inside the division, IMO, but Schultz would not be a bad swing if they did. I think a team like Buffalo (who's in the Atlantic) or a Western Conference team is way more likely.

Why do you think Russo is throwing this out into the ether? Probably because he knows Carolina has been after Jonas Brodin.

I like Haula's game. Its to bad he's struggled to stay healthy over the past few seasons. Scouting reports say he plays C/W, but it appears he plays more center (looking at his FO numbers). Is he capable of playing RW or is he a C/LW?
