Trouba is the odd man out, but no one will take on that terrible contract unless the Rangers retain some money

Besides that the Anaheim trade is terrible, that 1st next year will probably be close to top 10 and the Rangers do no need anymore RHD especially in a trade for Kreider

If they did decide to trade Trouba there’s no way they retain anything for 6 years. Taking back Gudbrandson and his terrible deal should help upgrade the deal. The extra d from Florida is going to be a ufa next year so just for salary dump to fit in Kreider and Fast

If you don’t want to retain salary, you won’t get much of a return. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd rd pick. Trouba is a solid 2nd pairing Dman being paid like he’s a #1.

There were plenty of teams interested last offseason and this year wouldn’t deter them from landing him either. No team is retaining salary for 6 years

Having watched him since draft day, he is a great #2 D. He was great behind Buff. He could be good in Anaheim behind Lindholm or in Arizona behind OEL. Something like that anyways. Certain teams would still pay a premium for him

Teams were interested because trouba is a good top 4 defenseman - but he’s not “the guy”. I’m not saying rangers have to retain salary , but that would be the only way to maximize the return. No team is going to give up significant assets for an overpaid defenseman in the salary cap era

Everyone overreacts and says trouba sucks he’s not good. While he might not be a top pairing defensemen the has potential to get there soon not to mention he’s never done that before. Yes he’s had some bad games and he’s playing with skjei so that doesn’t really help but he is a tough hard hitting and blocking shot kinda guy who can also let it rip. We ain’t trading him

He’s been playing big minutes and doing a little of everything. I don’t think they’d trade him just wanted to put the perspective out there. Deangelo and Fox are the more modern puck movers that are becoming the norm for dmen. He’s having a decent season with a rebuilding team that’s still trying to find its way defensively. If Deangelo stays then Kreider and possibly strome are going to need to be moved to make room. Smith/Staal/Hank would be nice to move or buyout but unlikely
