Cant see the Oilers having interest in Barrie, especially if they are getting rid of Larsson they are going to need to add someone who is more defensively reliable than Barrie to make up for it.

Scoring goals is not a huge problem for the Oil right now, and Barrie is a UFA that is going to want more of a contract than we will be able to afford. Plus Bouchard will be up next year to fill that exact "2nd pair offensive RHD" role that Barrie would occupy.

Johnsson is a nice player though I think Kapanen might be more desirable to the Oilers, and Toronto would have to add something if Larsson was their target, and it wouldn't make sense for it to be Barrie.

Barrie is worth more than Larsson and a 2nd. This site is so stupid.

With a contract sure, but not as a rental.

He also doesn’t fit what the Oilers need, like yes he’s a better player but the oilers need Larsson more than they need a player like Barrie.

Having a guy that can create that much offense playing with McDavid would be worth so much more to them. Maybe get him to sign. Losing Larsson doesn't matter, they were better without him in the lineup. Johnsson as well would have a much bigger impact than Larsson. Larsson is Zaitsev but a little better. Not even much better just a little.

If they can sign him we are having a different conversation but there is no guarantee they could, and even if they could I don’t know that they’re interested him at much above 6mil which he will probably ask for considering they have Bouchard coming who fills the same roll.

The Larsson to Zaitsev comparison is weird to me. Larsson is a fair bit better and when you take his contract into account the difference is night and day.

Though I do agree Larsson could be expendable to the Oilers as they have RHD capable of replacing him and he’s not the same player he was in 2016, but it doesn’t really make any sense to offload him for that return.

Yah Larsson is pretty bad, we are 6-1-1 in last 8. It took him time like Nylander to get to playing speed. Oh wait Nylander took a whole year.

I personally have zero interest in signing Barrie, he does not play TIppett hockey at all. He is pure offense, we seen him lots in Colorado. He will probably as 6 by 7 years to finish out his playing career and no way I would do that if I am oilers gm. He can sign that in Columbus. Larsson is playing great now and we need him for the rest of this year, especially if we make playoffs. He is my kind of guy in the playoffs

Agree with everything you are saying; you tend to be one of the more rational Leafs fans so thank you for that.

Agreed. Barrie is a good player but not a fit for the Oilers at all, especially with Bouch coming to do exactly what Barrie is going to want 7mil to do.

The statistical evidence between Larsson and Zaitsev is marginal. Larsson hits more but Corsi and possession wise they are pretty much equal. And since Larsson was paid pretty much the same I don't know what you mean about their contracts beyond Zaitsev has more term. But it's not the worst contract in hockey that's for sure.

And Barrie is having a terrible year, despite being sheltered on the 3rd pairing. The Oilers would have to move him up to the 2nd pairing if they traded Larsson, which would be a disaster.

If Larsson gets traded - highly unlikely as long as the Oilers are in a playoff spot - it'll be done no sooner than next summer.

The team isn't any better with these trades, really worse. Traded two RHD and got just one in return. Lose forward Johnsson and just replace him with an LTIR. Nice to have Georgiev, but Leafs will live or die with Anderssen.

Nylander didn't have a training camp or a full practice before playing full time a 3rd of the way through the season. It took him about 10 games to get going in which he had a point in his first 13. Then he was never given a chance under Babs to do anything except play 3rd line minutes and still he operated around a 60 point pace once he rounded into form. This year, he is showing what he can do. Larsson didn't matter when he was out at the beginning of the season and his impact on games now is also marginal.

Wrong. Larsson matter ever single game, he eats minutes and is playing very well. He is mean and pounds people, people dont like playing against him. He is a big part of where the Oilers are today. How many players do the leafs have like Larsson. ZERO

I don't care man, Larsson isn't very good. Never has been and never will be. He's just a bottom 4 physical stay at home defenceman.
