I think the Galchenyuk trade is fair and makes sense, but Ottawa probably asks for a bit more for tierney

The value is there. Not the biggest fan of Puljujärvi but it would make me pause if I was Pierre Dorion. Maybe upgrade the pick or add conditions.

I admit to not knowing anything about Lagesson, but the Pens don't really need another 4th line forward in Khaira, especially at $1.2M cap. At that return, the Pens might just rather hold onto Galchenyuk and hope that he is able to turn it on a bit during the playoffs.

What do people see in Chris Tierney? I'm not seeing any evidence that he can carry a 3rd line and win his minutes.

I dont even think that it needs the upgrade or conditions.

Getting Gagne for cap reasons allows us to flip him with retention as well.

If I'm upgrading that deal, I might as well pay a price for Pageau. Tierney is supposed to be the cheaper option, why all of a sudden are the two being priced similarly?

He's a mobile defender that won't put up points, but plays a modern interpretation of the shutdown role. Might peak as a top-four guy if he finds a partner that produces to gel with.

Can we not act like a $1.2M cap hit breaks the Pens banks when they're pulling in at minimum a $2.7M cap savings here? Even if they play Lagesson, they're still finding over $2M to throw elsewhere at the roster. If Khaira can't stick on the Pens roster, the amount of his cap that can't be buried is negligible.

His RFA status and lower acquisition price for starters. I'm still partial to a Bonino or Pageau in that role instead, but if Holland isn't going to dish out big assets to improve his roster, he's not a terrible option.

For what it's worth, I'd run that third line in some heavily sheltered offensive-zone starts. You've got two big lines to pull away teams' top defenders and a line that's designed to eat PK minutes or insanity matchups until they puke.
