You just annihilated the cap space MTL need to re-sign their key players over the next 2 years.

Well they were going to spend it somewhere or another, and 7mil for a 20-30 goal 45-50 pt player is not too far out of whack. And Kulak at 1.8mil isn't anything special and juulsen is a concussion concern, so the return isn't great.

Yeah, they will spend it, not on JVR. Makes no sense from Montreal's perspective.

Did you not do this exact same AGM yesterday and get torn apart? Why post again?

I still don't think Toronto wants to do that deal.

I don't think it got torn apart, I made changes as suggested.

Maybe I should do another Ceci/Bracco trade or Kovalchuk for a 2nd and more deal, its not like theres just a few of those.

You still have greatly over-valued JVR and undervalued Forsberg. None of these trades work.

Why would Habs want to trade for a cap dump without getting some 1st rounders back?

Maybe, yesterday I was accused of undervaluing JVR, so I added a 3rd. Forsberg I undervalued but prospects Allison (great size and skill, but oft injured) and Sandstrom (good goalie prospect, but buried behind Hart)

JVRs on pace for 24 goals and 45pts, (after a very slow start) and definitely twice the player 3.4mil Byron is, so not really a cap dump.

I don't think a 27 year old depth defenseman in Kulak, and an concussion injured prospect defenseman, (who was in NHL last season, but not this year), is tons back, for a 25 goal scorer.
JVR is overpaid, but not by much, but I think without the 2nd rounder, that that's pretty fair exchange, given his production.

So nsh trades their best forward for a bunch of your middle-tier prospects? Nah, pass. You're not even giving up one top prospect or a 1st. Would you trade couturier for any of what you're giving up? No. So neither would NSH with Forsberg. Pass.

As a leafs fan I would do that, drop the prospect and upgrade it to a 2nd

he's 30+ of age and signed for 3 more years at $7M, and his production is going down ... that's a cap dump

Habs counter with Kulak and Byron for JVR.

Point is that they need that cap for guys like Gallagher, Danault and Domi.

Seeing as they aren't contenders this season getting younger is the priority. If they were interested in spending money on older players they would prefer doing it on Tatar and Petry. This trade would prevent that.
