Honestly just sound like bias Leafs fans. Weber is in Norris conversations this year and is exactly the player Toronto needs, a player teams hate playing against.

His contract is an arguement that I have heard endlessly and honestly, its ridiculously over exaggerated.

He gets hurt, goes on LTIR and costs nothing

He wants to retire? Send him to Nashville for a kings ransome.

Declines in play? Trade him to the cheap owner wanting to reach the cap floor but only pay $1 million bucks.

Until any of those things happen though you get a stud top 4 dmen with 40+ points a year, one of the best leaders in the game and a dman who can teach your young score.

So ya, right now if Toronto wanted Weber it would be for a premium.

And it would be a move that would make Toronto cup favorites for the duration of Marners and Mathews tenure as Leafs until they leave in free agency at the end of thier current contracts.

This nashville thing I keep hearing from you guys is delusional. There is no reason for NSH to do so as they would still incur the cap recapture (which I guarantee the NHL would step in and change it at that point due to its severity, which again makes the trade even more useless).
If he gets hurt you now have no accruing cap space for half a decade plus and are forced into cap shenanigans that may become outlawed in the next CBA.
If he declines they are going to ****ing MAKE YOU PAY to lose him. Look what we lost for Marleau and that wasn't nearly as bad.

You are the biased one here not looking at reality, not leaf fans.

Canadians' fans don't consider Weber's contract bad because they are staring at only being in year 2 of that Price contract. It literally eclipses everything from sight.

Plus, the last 3 years of Weber's contract are $1M in salary for $7.86M cap hit. Low end salary teams will line up to take that contract off of their hands.

If he retires MTL have nothing to worry about and dint lay anything, Nashville loses big so why wouldn't you trade back for him so he can sit on your LTIR and you pay a lot less. It's the smart move as a GM, pay $24 million in cap recapture or trade for him and put him LTIR? Which one do you think Poile is going to do?

And if he declines, we still want have to pay to move him. You simply trade him to a team that wants to hit the cap floor, which there are always a couple of, and Weber is perfect for it since he will have a high cap hit and a low salary.

I know Toronto isnt used to good GMs making cap maneuvers, and are used to over paying but a sensible GM can easily move Weber at any time.

You think that Weber is going to allow himself to be used for what is essentially extortion?

And good lord the gm assertion. You are beyond hope.

How is your rights being traded back to the team you started with a bad thing? And he doesnt have a choice, he doesnt have a NTC.

Ya, a good GM knows how to have a back up plan so they dont give up quality assets for nothing. Hence the multiple ways you can move Webers contract at anytime.
