Zucker is going to cost more than that. He's good, has a reasonable cap hit, and is signed for 4 more years.

Poulin, 2nd for Athanasiou. Poulin alone is an overpay for Athanasiou. Heck, Athanasiou is a non-physical, not defensive, 10g 40pt guy, even though he gets 2nd line time... the 2nd alone might even be overpay. He is not a difference maker. He bumps nobody from the Pens top 2 lines. He is barely out-producing Galchenyuk, while managing to have the worse +/- in the league.

Counter with a 3rd for Athanasiou. Basically the same as you did for Galchenyuk since they are on par.

I don't think Penguins fans realize he could easily be a 30 goal scorer with potential for 35+ goals next to Crosby. Look at the one season Zucker had a true playmaker feeding him the puck (Granlund), he scored 33 goals. Zuccarello is a good playmaker, but not as good as Granlund was for us. Crosby is way better than Granlund, so the sky would potentially be the limit for Zucker.

The trade isn't bad, but if I'm Guerin I only say yes if we get Hallander and your 1st without a condition. Whether GMJR does that or not is a big question...

Someone else can pay it then. $5.5M hit for a 45 point, non-physical, meh-defensively guy is not what the pens need on their cap. If the Wild want more than Bjugstad, Hallander, 3rd then they would need to start retaining.

When the Pens played Minnesota a week ago I told Pens fans to pay attention to Zucker. While it was obviously just one game, it was fitting that the only time that he was on camera was when it panned past him to where action was. Top line time and he was invisible.

It has to at least start with a first. If there's a conditional on a pick, it would be for an additional pick. Scoring aside, Zucker is also a speedy winger that has good defensive impact. Fits Sullivan's system and preferred style perfectly.

Meh defensively is false. He is a very good all-around player. Basing your evaluation off one game of not noticing him is pretty silly.

This is a great point...makes me wonder why everyone trashes Galchenyuk's value, but not Athanasiou? Same age, similar PPG. Galchenyuk actually has a ton more NHL experience and goals...Both struggling this year.

Now I don't even want Athanasiou...he's gonna be the same player as Galchenyuk and wind up being in Sullivan's doghouse and stuck to the 4th line.

No chance the LA Kings give up a 3rd for galchenyuk which would convey to a 2nd if they traded him. GTFO with that crap lol. you would be paying the kings a conditional 3rd which turns into a 2nd if he wasnt traded. Kings are in rebuild. they dont need to pay for a rental.

Because clickbait bloggers post that Athanasiou has value and that Galchenyuk doesn't, therefore fans "opinions" are that Athanasiou has value and that Galchenyuk doesn't.

I didn't base my evaluation on that but I know a lot of people are just going for Zucker because they see his name in "rumors". I just reminded them to pay attention to him that game, and he didn't fail me at all. He did exactly what I expected of him, nothing to write home about, nothing to give up a 1st for, nothing to pay $5.5M cap hit for.

Well get ready to pay it because he’s gonna be a Pen
